Highlights of the 2010 CMA Awards
Hollywood came to Nashville. In attendance for various reasons were Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban’s wife; Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Brad Paisley’s wife; Katherine Heigl, Charles Kelly’s wife; Sissy Spacek; paying tribute to Loretta Lynn; Gwyneth Paltrow, performing and promoting her upcoming movie with Tim McGraw; Leighton Meester of Gossip Girls, also starring in Gwyneth Paltrow’s movie; Sheryl Crow, paying tribute to Loretta Lynn; Joanna Garcia from the new ABC show "Better With You", presenting; and finally, Ty Pennington, presenting and promoting an upcoming Nashville-based episode of his show.
Blake and Miranda are the new power couple. Between the two of them Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton won six CMA Awards last night. They each took home Female and Male vocalists of the year making them one of a short list of power couples to accomplish just that: Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Lorrie Morgan and Keith Whitley, Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill took home the honors in 2000. Backstage they took pictures holding their six CMA Awards and Miranda joked, "We have as many awards as we do dogs!"
Following the lead of the ACM Awards, the CMA gave Miranda Lambert the Album of the Year award. That makes her one of six female country artists to achieve that honor.
