When One Door Closes, Another Opens

Tonight’s the night. The Last Rodeo for Slim and Howdy before they set off on their paths to individual projects. Brooks & Dunn will perform their final concert as a duo tonight at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The duo decided to call an end to their 20 year career in August of last year but couldn’t say goodbye without one last tour for their fans, which luckily for us, included a stop in Las Cruces this past May. Proceeds from the concert tonight will go to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

So while one career is winding down, another is picking up. Little Big Town is celebrating a career first as their fourth studio album, The Reason Why, debuts at the top of Billboard’s Country Albums chart this week. Their label president challenged them to take turns singling lead throughout the album which means fans will get to hear the voices of some group members that have always been in the background. The foursome also learned of their CMA Award nomination in the Group category this week. Karen Fairchild said it best by saying, “This will be a week we never forget.”

Feel Good Friday Features

Can’t wait to get your hands on the People Magazine coverage of Carrie Underwood’s wedding? Photos are in the current issue that officially hits newsstands today, but sneak peeks reveal these details:
- Carrie hired Nashville vendors, including wedding planner, Jayne Bubis, who said , “Carrie wanted it sparkly, pretty and pink!”
- At the end of the ceremony, Carrie was anxious for the vows to be complete, and couldn’t wait to be pronounced husband and wife. “I was like just, say it. Just say it!” Carrie says.
- Carrie will be legally known as Carrie Fisher, but will still use her maiden name professionally.
- Carrie wore a Cathedral length veil held up with a 40-karat tiara that was a wedding gift from Mike. Her bouquet was complete with pink, white, and yellow peonies.
- Carrie enjoyed a glass of white wine with her mother and two sisters before the ceremony.
- Carries mother says, “I was sad because she was my baby, but I always said a prayer she’d find the right person, and I know she did.”
- Mike wore a black tux and black tie and white boutonniere.
- Mike and Carrie stood on a white platform while guests were seated in a circular formation around them. An arbor of four birch trees covered in pink flowers arched above them.
- Only the Maid of Honor and Best Man stood next to the couple during the ceremony.
- The bridesmaids wore pale pink/cream dresses in different styles. The color matched the sash worn around Carrie’s waist.
- Mike’s cousin served as the flower girl and Carrie’s nephew was the ring bearer.
- Carrie’s entrance song was “Bridal Chorus” played by a string quartet.
- When Carrie and Mike has their first kiss as a married couple Carrie’s dog Ace began barking which had everyone laughing.
- The reception took place in the hotel ballroom, which was covered in shades of pink.
- Guests snacked on hors d’oeuvres of sushi and crispy risotto lollipops. The meal was a four-course dinner.
- Carrie’s “wedding cake” included tiers of cupcakes with a traditional cake as the top and bottom tier.
- Guests found their table assignments by reading painted hockey pucks.
- The couple had their first dance to the Christian song “Love Never Fails.” As a surprise, Carrie had Christian artist Brandon Heath perform the song.

Another Voting Opportunity

News From Around The Country
Lady Antebellum’s latest album, Need You Now, has sold more than 2.2 million copies, making it the biggest album of the year so far. The band has sold an additional 2.8 million downloads of its songs, 2 million of those of the title track of the album. Meanwhile, Lady A is also doing remarkable overseas. In Europe, the album debuted at number eight on the charts back in April, and the trio would love to get over there for some international dates, but since they are on the road with Tim McGraw now and will soon headline shows, their time is limited for worldwide travel. ….. Speaking of Tim McGraw, he is scheduled to wrap up the Super Bowl Concert Series (which his wife, Faith Hill, opened in March) at the new Cowboys Stadium on September 10th. The event will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Dallas Cowboys and the induction of Emmitt Smith into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. …… In celebration of Father’s Day, you can find Zac Brown and his dad chatting about music and other stories on a free iTunes celebrity podcast. ….. If you’re looking for Little Big Town’s latest single, “Little White Church,” it will be available on their next album, The Reason Why, which will be out in late August. This will be their fourth album and the first since 2007's A Place to Land.

And finally, how about throwing a vote or two Bob Kingsley’s way. Bob is the host of the Country Top 40, heard every Sunday here on The Country Station. Bob has been nominated for induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame in the “Active: National” category. He’s the only nominee in the National category from the Country format. The national online balloting runs through August 1st, and the general public is invited to vote. The National Radio Hall of Fame has very little representation from the Country format. Currently it only includes the Grand Ole Opry, inducted in 1992, and Gene Autry, inducted in 2003. This induction would be an honorable award for not only Bob Kingsley, but the country radio industry as well.

LeDoux Honored and ZBB Honors Soldiers

As a celebration of his life and legacy in American music and rodeo, Chris LeDoux is being honored in Kaycee, Wyoming with his own park and bronze statue called “Good Ride Cowboy.” Chris sits atop Stormy Weather in the statue, the horse that earned him a World Championship. The park features a unique walkway with Chris’s boot prints fading as you near the sculpture. The dedication of the park will take place on June 19th.

Inspired by the latest single, Little Big Town gave weddings to two couples in their “Little White Church” tent last weekend as part of the Country Throwdown tour. The ceremonies happened in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana. The members of Little Big Town attended both ceremonies and signed the marriage licenses as official witnesses.

More than 70,000 people have participated in the “Letters For Lyrics” campaign, a partnership between the Zac Brown Band and Ram Trucks. Fans who write a letter to a U.S. soldier are rewarded with a CD that features three new songs from the Zac Brown Band. As part of the campaign, RamTrucks has video installments of Zac Brown Band’s visit to soldiers stationed in the Persian Gulf.

If you can’t make it to Lady Antebellum’s fan club party, the performance will be streamed live on their website on June 10th. 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit Nashville flood relief. It will be a $5 minimum donation to watch.

And finally, Julianne Hough wants her fans to help her pick out a dress to wear on the red carpet for the 2010 CMT Music Awards. Click here to check out the gallery and cast your vote.

Musicians In Hospital for Two Different Reasons

What a way to end the American Saturday Night Tour – in the hospital. Brad Paisley was wrapping up the encore of his show in Charleston, South Carolina, when he tripped as he ran across a downward slope on the stage. He and his guitar went down pretty hard. Stage hands ran out immediately to assist, but Brad got up, walked it off, and said goodbye. Backstage, an ambulance was waiting and Brad was taken to a local hospital to be checked for further injuries. Brad tweeted from the hospital, “Just very very bruised. Nothing broken, had a ct scan all is okay!" Although yesterday, Brad followed up from home, “Man am I sore today. You guys should see the bruise.” Good to know that he’s OK and in good spirits. No word on the guitar's injuries. And you’ve got to love a man who embraces technology. After leaving the hospital, Brad sent another Twitter message regarding his accident, telling fans, "Alright, whoever posts the YouTube footage of it gets a meet and greet. I have got to see it. I hit hard. And I mean freaking hard."

Daisy and Penelopi have a new little “cousin” to boss around. Last Friday, Little Big Town members Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook welcomed their first child, son Elijah Dylan Westbrook. The baby weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces. Daisy and Penelopi are the road-veteran children of bandmates Kimberly Roads Schlapman and Phillip Sweet (and their spouses,) respectively. “Our hearts are bursting with joy for Karen and Jimi,” says Kimberly. “We have dreamed of this moment with them for a long time. We can’t wait to welcome another little angel onto our bus.”

Thursday Briefing

Joe Nichols has partnered with TheHopeLine in creating a website designed to help people who are struggling with addictions (www.anoldfriendofmine.com). The partnership came about when Dave Anderson, TheHopeLine's director of rescue, saw Joe's music video for "An Old Friend Of Mine." Both the song and video depict the battle with substance abuse, and the song is the closing track on Joe’s upcoming CD release, Old Things New. TheHopeLine will make a HopeCoach available to moderate the chat room on Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm Eastern for an entire month, beginning this week. The goal is to help individuals find help and hope in a moment of need. Having struggled with addiction issues himself, Joe says it was a song he could relate to. Old Things New will be in stores on October 27th.

Little Big Thursday News

Little Big Town recently hosted their third “Ride For A Cure” to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation. This year’s event was a huge success and raised $52,000 for cancer research.
Karen Fairchild is very proud of the event and says,"We have seen this event double in size every year and we are so grateful for all the artists and fans support. We want to see a cure and we believe TJ Martell has the means and the resources to make that happen in our lifetime. I had the chance to talk to a guy who was riding his brother's bike on Sunday. His brother had passed from cancer two years prior and he was there to ride in his honor. That's the kind of story that fuels this event."

Do you remember when Kenny Chesney opened Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana last year? There was a big brew-haha because fans weren’t too thrilled with the sound quality. Well this year, before Kenny returns to the stadium, he’s taking matters into his own hands and opening his wallet for a better stadium sound system so his fans will have the best concert experience possible. Total, 700-thousand dollars is being spent upgrading the stadium. Kenny’s pitching in 500-thousand dollars and the other 200-thousand is being covered by the building authority. The amount of speakers will be increased up to 25-percent allowing the upper bowl to actually hear the concert.

News From Around The Country
Jason Aldean has broken his own previous records and gone gold in just 10 weeks! The success of the newest CD Wide Open is due largely in part to the smash single, “She’s Country.” Meanwhile, the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack has been certified platinum for sales over one million since its release March 24th. Joe Nichols was honored to perform as part of a star-studded line-up at last week's 40th Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards in New York. He sang the Rodgers and Hammerstein composition “If I Loved You” from Carousel.

Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland has been placed on a 10-day vocal rest, forcing the duo to cancel three concerts this week with Keith Urban. Jennifer has been diagnosed with a viral tonsil condition. As a fill-in, Jason Aldean was added as an opening act for Keith Urban’s concert kickoff last night in Uncasville, Connecticut. Little Big Town will now open tonight’s show. The magazines have really been highlighting the pretty people lately. Hello! magazine has put Shania Twain at the top of their Canada’s Most Beautiful List. Shania has never understood why people found her attractive saying, "I don't think I'm ugly, I just think I'm overrated on the cutie factor." Brooks & Dunn and Dierks Bentley received the CMA International Artist Achievement Award this week on the final stop of their Australian Tour in Sydney. Big Things In Store For Fans

It pays to be a Jimmy Wayne fan. Recently, three Michigan fans were on their way to Jimmy’s Bay City concert when their car broke down. A tie-rod blew out a few blocks from the venue. The fans were told it would take until the next day to get it fixed, so they’d have to stay in a hotel overnight. Word of the fan’s plight made its way to Jimmy, so they were taken backstage to meet him, where he immediately offered to pay for their repairs! The fans told him that they couldn’t accept that kind of generosity, yet Jimmy insisted that he either pick up the repairs or the hotel!

Little Big Town has chosen the four opening acts for their A Place To Land Tour. Over the course of four weeks, 300 acts competed for the chance to break out their career by opening the show. The four winners are Josey Greenwell from Bardstown, Ky.; 32 Below from Fargo, N.D.; Corinne Chapman from Nashville; and J.W. Cudd from Nashville. Shows are selling out nationwide, and each act will open a different date on the tour.

Keith Urban is pre-releasing new music from his Defying Gravity CD. The physical disc doesn’t come out until March 31, but Keith is going to start early by releasing a new song a week. If you play along and buy the rest of the album within two weeks of release, you’ll get a bonus track, “Call My Name.” Keith will do podcasts about each song at it releases on iTunes. The schedule is::
March 3: Complete My Album Campaign begins with "Sweet Thing"
March 10: 2nd song releases, "Kiss A Girl"
March 17: 3rd song releases, "I'm In"
March 24: 4th song releases, "Only You Can Love Me This Way"

He’ll perform at a festival called CMC Rocks the Snowys this weekend, along with Taylor Swift, Deana Carter, Old Crow Medicine Show and several Australian country artists. Tracy Lawrence’s next album The Rock will feature largely inspirational music. Look for it in June. And Jeff Cook, from Alabama, will release Ashes Won’t Burn, his first CD with his Goodtime Band, on March 17. The thing is, the music will only be available as digital download. Jeff calls the album, “country, soul, and rock-n-roll,” and promises an album that country, blues, rock, and soul fans can appreciate. Jeff affectionately calls the music “funtry.” Jeff’s Allstar Goodtime Band is a nine-piece group with a three-piece horn section and percussion. Prior to forming the band, Cook handpicked all eight band members based on stage chemistry. "I put this group together to target the casino, fairs and festival demographics," he said. "We love playing the diversified music types!"

Julianne Hough has landed the opening spot on George Strait’s summer tour. Her first concert with Strait will be May 15th in Charlotte, North Carolina. A second act will be announced at a later date. Little Big Town is moving up to the big time. Jimi, Karen, Kimberly, and Phillip will embark on their first headline tour in ’09 with the Zac Brown Band as the opening act. The Associated Press just put out their list of the top ten albums of the year, and Taylor Swift lands at number seven with her new CD Fearless. Several artists have found themselves without a label as Equity Music Group suspends business citing the economic downfall. The Equity roster includes partial-owner Clint Black, Laura Bryna, Carolina Rain, and Kevin Fowler. Charlie Daniels is featured in the January 2009 issue of Esquire Magazine. Look for Charlie in the "What I've Learned" column, where remarkable people are featured offering wisdom and advice.

Christmas With The Stars
Looking back through all of her years of giving gifts, Julianne Hough says the gift she is most proud of is a homemade ornament she made for her mother when she was 13. She recalls that at the time, her mother loved the “Tazmanian Devil.” So, Julianne got creative and designed a one of a kind “Tazmanian Devil” ornament for her mother. As far as what Julianne wants for Christmas, she can’t come up with anything. She prefers giving than receiving this time of year.

A Carnival Ride Came To Town

Signs promised confetti cannons, strobe lights, and lasers in use during the show; they didn’t lie. With well-paced musical highs and lows and no sign of sound problems that were reputed to affect a previous regional tour stop, the Carrie Underwood concert was quite the Carnival Ride. The Las Cruces concert deserves three resounding yes’s.

The night began with Little Big Town. From “Fine Line” to “Boondocks,” Jimi Westbrook, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Roads Schlapman, and Phillip Sweet kept pace with hits and selections from A Place to Land. All four accomplished singers, each had an opportunity to showcase lead vocals on respective selections and each, particularly Phillip Sweet, demonstrated a vocal quality that is under represented on studio recordings. In a telephone interview, Kimberly told KGRT listeners that Carrie Underwood was very generous to Little Big Town when it came to use of lights and production, something that headliners oftentimes hold back from the opening acts. Little Big Town made good use of those lights to create interest and keep track of the four energetic singers, two of whom were often on the move. Carrie Underwood’s stage set up included a T-shaped runway into the floor seating, again, a zone traditionally off limits to the opening acts. Little Big Town owned the T. As a result, Little Big Town looked as much the headline act as the young lady who was waiting to sing last. Stand out numbers included the four-part harmony of “Life In A Northern Town,” and what Kimberly and Phillip later hinted could be the next single, the bouncy “Good Lord Willing and The Creek Don’t Rise.” For a 10-year old band that was born and raised in the boondocks, Little Big Town is about to cross that invisible line that separates the legions of working artists from the handful of superstars in the format. The next record should be titled Large Big Town.

While the Pan Am was well-filled for Little Big Town, the crowd swelled as patrons made their way to their seats in time for the lady that America met on TV. With a unique countdown clock, the 2005 American Idol winner gave ample notice that she was about the hit the stage. The screaming fans were ready as the lights died at the count of 0:00. After an introductory video tease, Carrie Underwood rose from the depths of the stage to a lively Las Cruces reception. The approximately 1-hour-45-minute set was packed with proof as to why this girl won American Idol in the first place and left little doubt as to the legitimacy of her multiple variations of the title “Female Vocalist of the Year.” Carrie was in good form vocally as she effortlessly breezed through her hit singles as well as selections from her two best-selling CD’s, Some Hearts and Carnival Ride. Carrie kept interest throughout the show with well-placed personable stories about her life; her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma; her dog, Ace; the current rumors of her love life, or lack thereof; and her stay in Las Cruces which according to Carrie included the sighting of Sonic and the desire for Cheddar Peppers, and according to sources connected with The Country Station included a stop at a local tanning salon and a trip to the gym. Carrie did say that she had a very nice day off before the show. Carrie also made light of the fact that she didn’t think she was ready to headline a show, but from the production of the night, she’s too modest. Like all top female entertainers, Carrie made the obligatory costume changes throughout the show, time that was brilliantly filled with a video retrospective of her career and musical solos from the band members. Each chapter of the show seemed to keep in musical theme of the costume. Carrie sported a sexy, little black shorts-set with knee-high stiletto boots to open the show; presented her spiritual ballads in a formal gown; stripped the hoop skirt for a mini for a series of sassy selections; changed to a more conservative pantsuit for the bridge of the show; and then added a shimmering silver jacket for the finale. The crowd loved it; especially, as Carrie called them, the good-lookin’ boys that were peppered throughout the floor seating holding signs that offered everything from marriage proposals to promises that they would not cheat. The crowd was also filled with young ladies who adore the image of this all-American girl. One young lady, 5-year old Logan, was invited on stage to sing “All American Girl” with Carrie. She turned shy in front of a huge crowd, but still did a great job. After all, it’s not everyone who gets to hear Carrie Underwood belt out a song to their face. The entertaining night proved to be a winner for all ages. However it’s interesting to note that during the aforementioned conversation with The Country Station, Kimberly made reference to “Carrie’s crowd” being a little different from the Little Big Town fan base. While the two shows are complementary, Kimberly’s comment did make sense after observing the crowd’s reaction to the subtle differences in the two styles of music. Yet at the end of the night, especially after Little Big Town came back out for a pre-finale cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way,” both fan bases were meshed into one big country music family. And yes, those confetti cannons did fire off for the anticipated finale, “Before He Cheats.” Now – get out and VOTE. There’s an election to decide today.

She recorded “Blue Christmas” as a “duet” with Elvis, now Martina McBride has been invited to help kick off the holiday season at Graceland in November by flipping the switch on the traditional blue lights and decorations. The song is part of the recently released Elvis Presley Christmas Duets album; which includes artists such as Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans, and Gretchen Wilson.

The pranksters are at it again. Many have asked how the Nashville Metro Police felt about the recent arrest prank Jewel played on Brad Paisley. Nashville newspaper The Tennessean reports Metro police spokesman Dan Aaron as saying they aren’t upset about the pranksters acting like police officers since they were not wearing official Metro police uniforms. They also never represented themselves as Metro police officers. Aaron goes on to say Brad could easily have made “a complaint about being handcuffed and placed in the back of the car” and the police would have had to investigate it, but instead, Brad chose to play along and accept it as a joke. No word on retaliation toward Jewel, but Brad did try to prank opening act Chuck Wicks. Brad asked his other opening act and Chuck’s girlfriend, Julianne Hough, to star in a video that he wanted to play during Chuck’s set. Julianne was hesitant at first, but quickly joined the fun. In the video, which Brad played for the crowd on the stage monitors, Julianne told Chuck that she’s breaking up with him. It didn’t work. Julianne says that Chuck didn’t believe it for a second.

Kenny Chesney has to pay a big fine in St. Louis. The venue that he played in on the Poets and Pirates Tour had a midnight curfew, which Kenny disregarded. So he’s being fined $1000 per minute that he was onstage past midnight. And he’s paying it with a smile. Kenny says he and the crowd were having such a good time, he wanted to rock out and give them their money’s worth.

Last week the Inspirational Music Awards were handed out. George Strait's song “I Saw God Today” took home the Mainstream Inspirational Country song award, while Tracy Lawrence's video for “Till I Was A Daddy Too” walked away with Video of the Year. The Bellamy Brothers were named Vocal Duo of the Year. Ricky Skaggs & The Whites took home two honors. Ricky, his wife Sharon, her sister Cheryl and the girls' father, Buck, walked away with the Inspirational Bluegrass Artist and Mainstream Country Artist awards. Additionally, Ricky was named Musician of the Year.

It's Like Kenny In Your Living Room

The rack of new CD’s released today offer quite a bit of bonus music. The first crack at the new Kenny Chesney CD is the Deluxe Edition of Lucky Old Sun, which contains four bonus tracks that will not be on next week’s regular edition. Expect the latest album to have more of a stripped down feel as opposed to the party theme of the last record. Little Big Town offers A Place to Land – part two – today. It’s the new and improved version of an album that failed to materialize substantial hits when it was released on a smaller label. The band switched record labels, added four new tracks, and now the collection has been given a second wind. Included on the upgraded disc is the collaborative single “Life In A Northern Town.” The track can now be found on Sugarland’s latest CD, Love On The Inside and Little Big Town’s CD. One would imagine that Jake Owen will get a turn to put the song on his next CD as well. Other notable new releases are Billy Currington A Little Bit of Everything, and John Michael Montgomery Time Flies. As the title suggests, you’ll hear a little bit of country, a little bit of pop, and some soulful tracks on the new Currington CD. The new JMM project allows fans to catch up through song on how the 90’s hitmaker has been feeling in the last few years. As with all CDs, a few of the tracks are purely for fun, but there are one of two tracks that really take the listener back to the familiar era of big John Michael Montgomery ballads.

They Call Me The Fireman.....

Looks like Aaron Tippin can now add the title of Firefighter to his resume. Aaron and his wife, Thea, were enjoying a quiet lunch near their home in Liberty, TN, this past Monday when they heard a call come over the scanner about a fire near their home. Aaron left the restaurant immediately and rushed to the scene. He then assisted local fire squads by piloting a dozer to dig fire trenches and helping to rescue livestock and secure the Tippin residence. After the ordeal, Aaron joked, “Tell George Strait to move over, there’s a new Fireman in town.”

Willie Nelson’s got a new movie roll. He’s tagged to portray an Indian guide-to-afterlife who's on a 300-year quest for justice, in Secrets of the Lost San Sabas. The film is being described as a "wild west ghost story," and it’s being shot entirely in digital 3D. There’s no word yet as to when this 3D movie will be released, but in the meantime, you can enjoy Willie in the films Beer For My Horses and Swing Vote. He also plays Farmer Bob in the Matthew McConaughey comedy, Surfer, Dude.

The prankster’s been pranked again. Jewel got Brad Paisley not once, but twice! Jewel talks about the first prank that was timed while Brad was singing his hit “I'm Still A Guy," "He has this 40 foot, ginormous screen onstage, so I decided to Photoshop pictures of his head on women's bodies. Everything from women in bikinis to Miss Universe to little girls in tu-tus ... Brad's head was on it! When he turned around, he knew someone had been messing with his production!" Jewel's second prank took place during what is supposed to be a Brad and Jewel duet of Merle Haggard’s song, “That's the Way Love Goes.” Jewel explains, "I had my tour manager, Steve, dress up as me, in my dress with a blonde wig and everything. As the song began, I stood offstage and began singing while Steve walked out to the end of the walkway behind Brad, strutting his stuff. Once Brad realized it wasn't me standing there, he could barely get through the song!" Jewel finishes her ride on the Paisley Party Tour in November, so Brad only has a few weeks to retaliate.

It’s less than a month until Carrie Underwood brings the Carnival Ride Tour to Las Cruces. Little Big Town is the opening act this fall, and as you might expect, the band is thrilled to be on the tour. Karen Fairchild talks about what it’s like to see Carrie light up the room, “When Carrie comes out the crowd just comes unglued. She is a kick-butt singer, just a girl who has the chops. The tone of her voice is so easy to listen to." When you attend the show at the Pan Am Center, you’ll hear Carrie’s signature hits and her favorite cover songs, but Karen reports that fans are also in for a song that’s fairly unexpected, "She's a rocker at heart, and it's just cool to see what influenced her. So she rocks it out at the end with a Guns N' Roses cover."

And finally, a sweet treat for a sweet milestone. It originated in Las Cruces, and now the Bucky Covington video, affectionately dubbed 'the official unofficial video for “I’ll Walk”' has reached 100,000 views in just over 3 months. See the video that everybody is watching on the right sidebar, and on Bucky’s myspace and iLike pages. The video producer thanks everyone for the kind comments. However, the real credit for Bucky’s third hit song belongs to the writers, Lonnie Fowler and Brent Wilson, for a touching story; Bucky for an empathetic delivery; and Mark Miller for bringing it all together with great production.

It’s a good day in Seanland. Err, make that Sugarland. The Deluxe Fan edition of the Love on the Inside CD is released today. Let’s hope in all his excitement, Sean doesn’t just pretend to work tonight. The special CD will feature five extra songs, including the one that fans have been asking for, “Life In A Northern Town.” Jennifer says the CD built for fans, “…also has some video content on it as well, that sort of shows a little peek into how we recorded this record, why we chose to record it the way that we did, and gives more insight into this idea of what it’s like to be a fan for us." Sean and all Sugarland fans are advised to open their CD’s carefully. Hidden inside jewel cases distributed across the country are 5 Platinum Tickets that entitle the holders to a slew of Sugarland prizes including a trip to the CMA Awards and private meetings with Jennifer Nettles, and yes Sean, Kristian Bush. The regular edition of Love on the Inside will be released next Tuesday. In case you miss Sugarland’s TV appearances today, here is an encore presentation of “All I Want To Do” from the ACM Awards:

In other album news on the CD release Tuesday, country fans will recognize a familiar voice on John Mellancamp’s latest project, Life, Death, Love & Freedom. That’s Karen Fairchild from Little Big Town singing on four of the CD’s fourteen tracks. Karen can also be seen in Mellancamp’s upcoming music video. Another voice familiar to country fans will be heard on Jessica Simpson’s upcoming country debut. Just back from her European tour, Dolly Parton will be in the studio this week to lend vocals to the title track of Jessica’s album, “Do You Know?” “I’m excited and honored that she recorded my song, but equally as excited that I am going to sing on it with her as well. Guess you could say it’s the ‘blonde leading the blonde’,” Dolly joked about the song that she wrote especially for Jessica. And finally, word is leaking that Toby Keith’s new and so far untitled album that will be released October 28th. And on August 5th , Sony BMG will mark the 40th anniversary of one of the pivotal events in Elvis Presley's career with the release of a four-CD set, Elvis: The Complete '68 Comeback Special.

Now that you’re caught up with the news, go take some ice water to Sean. He’ll be the one in the CD department camped out in front of the “S’s.”
