Caution: Hot Bachelors Ahead
Gary Allan – is it the tattoos or just something sexy about getting off on the pain?
Chris Young – always ranked highly, it will be a devastation to the voting public if Chris ever marries.
Josh Thompson – ladies are lovin’ a man that can bring home the beer.
Chuck Wicks – six words: dance routines in the silk jammies.
Keith Anderson – who doesn’t love Mr. XXL?
Danny Gokey – last year’s Idol voters are still fresh in practice for their man.
Jake Owen – a man that promises an 8 second ride cannot NOT get the ladies attention.
Bucky Covington - Buckaneers love their man. Just wait, the country audience in general hasn’t even heard his sexy song yet.
Phil Vassar – the piano man is still tinkling the ivories of the voter’s hearts.
Stephen Barker Liles – from Love & Theft. One third of the group is married; the other third will surely be envious of this title.

Finale Week
Last night, Chulianne was back for an encore of the red
Samba number; Ty & Chelsie didn’t even get a week’s rest as they were back to re-do the Lindy Hop; all the defeated cast was brought back and roasted; and another Dancing With The Stars finale is in the record books with perhaps the second biggest shocker of the season. Lil Kim & Derek eliminated before Ty & Chelsie? Try season-long favorite Gilles & Cheryl in second place behind the understated Shawn & Mark! With Melissa & Tony called out in third place and judges’ scores tied between the top two, it was all up to the viewers.
With less than 1% difference in the voting, Shawn Johnson upholds Olympic tradition and, along with partner Mark Ballas, won the 8th season. No one looked more shocked than Shawn & Mark themselves. By the time friend and bandmate Derek Hough ran out to throw Mark on his shoulders for the ceremonial group congratulations, it didn’t appear as though the mirror ball trophy had sunk in yet. Then out of nowhere, Chuck Wicks threw Shawn on his shoulders and it was celebratory madness from there. Gracious Gilles & Cheryl were lost in the crowd, but you can bet they were doing the math. The show averages millions of votes. How many millions are they talking about? Less than one percent of one million is less than 10,000. Five million? <50,000. Thirty million? <300,000 votes. It sounds close to call, but not even a contestant’s mama can make that many phone calls to even it out. So spoils go to the winners and the DVR goes on summer hiatus. It’s been fun!One more fun note, Shawn Johnson may have out-danced Chuck Wicks on Dancing With the Stars, but Chuck is out-doing Shawn when it comes Twitter. Since the two began competing on the reality show, they’ve had a challenge of who could get the most followers and so far Chuck is winning. His account is chuckwicksmusic if you want to help him win.
Tonight, the other reality show that tapes across the hall, American Idol, reveals it’s winner. Adam Lambert and Kris Allen are also in a neck and neck battle. Will this, too, be another underdog upset? Keith Urban and Steve Martin perform on tonight’s finale.
Finally, don’t forget to click the banner at the top to vote for your favorite final nominees in the CMT Music Awards. It’s the only completely fan-voted award show, so if you don’t want your favorite less than one percent behind the others, keep working at those thousands of votes.

Feel Good Friday
Keith Urban needs a title for his webisode series, so he is challenging fans to be creative. The clips air every Thursday on keithurban.net and feature behind-the-scenes footage from Keith's Defying Gravity promotional campaign, as well as video from his Verizon Underplay No Frills Concert Tour and rehearsals for his upcoming Escape Together World Tour. Keith also needs video of fans singing “You’ll Think of Me.” A montage of those fan-submitted videos will be shown on the big screen during Keith's live performances.Reba McEntire is going to be appearing in an IMAX documentary on the history of Wyoming. "I've always been a big fan," Reba says, "Daddy and Grandpap were contestants at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Cheyenne, so we were up there an awful lot during my growing up years." Then on May 9th, Reba will remedy her absence from the Grand Ole Opry with a long awaited 4-song set, which will undoubtedly include her new hit single “Strange.” Reba made her Opry debut in 1977; she became a member in 1986.
This year’s hosts have been named for the annual Country Weekly Fashion Show and Concert: Chuck Wicks, Jessica Harp and Suzanne Alexander from GAC. Fellow country artists will strut the runway to model the latest fashions. Of co-hosting the event, Jessica Harp says, "Being the fashion lover I am, I'm excited to be co-hosting the 3rd Annual Country Weekly Fashion show alongside Chuck Wicks. Perhaps I'll share some fashion tips with him...if he'll share some dancing tips with me!"
Several weeks ago, Craig Morgan hosted his Charity Ride in Dickson, TN to raise money for his foundation that aids charities in his hometown. Pictures of Craig and his guests are starting to appear. Rodney Atkins surprised a couple near Milwaukee, Wisconsin yesterday as part of Good Morning America’s At Your House promotion. Rodney performed his current hit “It’s America,” live for the neighborhood and millions of GMA viewers. It seems like he just left for overseas, but Toby Keith has now finished his 7th USO trip. According to the military publication, Systems, Toby spent five days performing for troops in Afghanistan and it was the first time he got to take his band with him. During the day, he went to the front lines, and then he played nightly shows with his band. Regarding his shows for military personnel, Toby says, “It's a break from the monotony in their life. They're under fire and tremendous workloads trying to accomplish their goals, so when we show up, it changes that for a little while. We try to put smiles on their faces." Gretchen Wilson will travel to Capitol Hill to hand deliver nearly ten-thousand letters from volunteers across the nation to both Tennessee congressmen and senators urging them to increase funding for adult education programs. And finally, look for Dolly Parton on The View tomorrow.

The Shock of Premature Ejection
Chuck Wicks was workin’ it like he needed a mirror ball trophy to sustain existence! Yet Chulianne is eliminated in 6th place? Ok, maybe Chuck wasn’t destined to win the whole thing over the obvious favorites; Chulianne has always been middle of the pack material. But 6th place does seem a bit premature. It was a sad night for country music on Dancing With The Stars. At least Chulianne got to show different aspects of their personalities throughout the season, including their kooky side. We'll let the tights fall into that category, Chuck, but last night's variety episode included a skit with Chuck and Julianne playing a matched couple in a spoof of online dating ads called "Dance Match." Appearing later on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chulianne didn’t seem too upset about being kicked off. Each plans to continue work on their respective sophomore albums and fall back on their country music career. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, especially for Len Goodman, Ty Murray lasts longer than Chuck. Maybe going shirtless was the trick. Either that, or there are a whole lot of cowboys that need to admit to watching ballroom dancing! These are probably the same cowboys who wear pink. It’s ok, fellas. The man leading the dance is a very masculine role. Anyway, the Top 5 move on to next week which includes even more dances that will inch them closer to the final. Injured Melissa returned to hear her fate and will be attempting to continue on.No farewell video blogs yet, so check out Julianne Hough’s behind the scenes tour:

Save A Horse, Save A Cowboy
There are weaknesses, but there has also been quite a bit of improvement among a couple of the couples. And just when you think you have them ranked to be picked off, injury rears its ugly head. So last night’s Dancing With The Stars has got to be the toughest one to predict yet. Melissa & Tony could be out by injury. That would move everyone else up a notch higher than they may have been. The judges love her, but Shawn & Mark were showing a few weaknesses. Chuck Wicks must have gotten a look at one of Julianne Hough’s trophy balls, because the last couple of weeks Chulianne is dancing like they aim to get another one. Julianne has had the ability to play the dance card at her concerts all along, if she chose to do so; but if Chuck plays his new found sexiness up at his concerts, he could be a kind of artist the likes of which country music has never seen before. Just leave the leotards at home, Chuck. Country music is not ready for that kind of show! Sorry, the tighty-whities in the Team Mambo number did not one-up Gilles’ shirtlessness. Matter-of-fact, it may have already been “done,” but Team Tango one-uped themselves by bringing both Gilles and Ty Murray out shirtless. And it never hurts a cowgirl’s feelings to see a shirtless cowboy running around the dance floor. However many cowgirls were watching last night will determine tonight’s results. All couples were suitably good last night. It’s come down to fan base. Do Melissa & Tony have enough fans to save them from the perils of rehearsal tape? Can the rodeo community rally larger than the gymnastics community? Does DWTS tend to draw more of the country music audience or more of the rap music audience? And then there’s Gilles – who went shirtless again – so he’s locked a few votes. Unless it’s a default exit by injury, likely in the bottom two Ty & Chelsie and Shawn & Mark.News From Around The Country

Speedy News on Speedway Day
As predicted, Lawence & Edyta had their last dance and said their goodbyes to their castmates last night on Dancing With The Stars. The musical director, Harold Wheeler, and his band should have struck up “Celebration.” No celebrity has ever been as happy to get back to the golf course! Now it’s down to the Top 6 and our country connections are still alive. Chulianne was quickly saved; Ty & Chelsie had to sweat it out until the end of the show again. It’s still announced that they are not necessarily the bottom two. But now that it’s down to the Top 6, and rankings have been predicted, it’s time for a few upsets in the equation.
Check out this week's video blogs from Chulianne and meet the people who make them look so pretty...

More Rise and Fall Than a Bride's Nightie
Chulianne was smokin’! Dressed in red silk, Chuck Wicks was shakin’ it with a few moves that looked alarmingly similar to Julianne Hough’s brother, dancing champ Derek. The judges were mostly speechless after Chulianne’s routine, muttering not much more than it was their best routine yet - an observation that was obvious by watching the professionalism in their Samba number. Bruno did comment about Chuck’s butt and hips. Most in the audience noticed that, too, judging by the massive standing ovation. In the rehearsal package, Chuck declared that he wanted a 9. He got three, for a best-ever score of 27. It seems that not long ago, Chuck asked for the 8 he got. Next he needs to try for the 10. The wig? Well, it was a mod 60’s group number, but seriously Chuck, it’s got to go. During the routine, each couple gets a brief solo stunt. The Chuckwheel was cute, but what was Ty thinking? Riding Chelsie? That will perhaps go down as the second most absurd move of the show – right behind Cloris & Corky humping across the floor! Likely to go this week: Lawrence and Edyta. Their time has been coming for awhile, and with the mistakes that were made in week 7, they clearly had the weakest routine.News From Around The Country

The Country Loved The Country on the Dancefloor
Whatever happened to the little Paisley? It was well over a week ago that Brad Paisley said he was waitin’ on a woman. Kimberly’s due date was the night of the ACM Awards. The poor girl is 10 days overdue! Brad jokes that their 2-year-old son, Huck, doesn’t even believe this big brother business anymore! Word has got to be coming soon. Fastest news is on the CMT News Feed in the sidebar.
Last night on Dancing With The Stars…
They made them sweat it out until the end, but as expected, Chulianne is safe. They didn’t formally announce a “bottom two,” so reading between the lines, even though Ty & Chelsie were left standing there at the end, the country folk and the rodeo community are rallying to keep Ty Murray dancing. With the lowest paddle ever in the sixth week, Steve-O & Lacey were given their walking papers. Likely the second lowest was Lawrence & Edyta, but 2nd from the bottom is enough to stay, so they were announced safe early on, just to give the “no particular order” a little variety as to who sweats it out until the end. It’s coming down to the wire for our country folk, though. Ty & Chelsie and Chulianne really need to step it up the next couple of weeks to get out of those mid-level scores. Rascal Flatts performed two songs, “Here Comes Goodbye,” and “Revolution,” the former accompanied by a high-flying number from Julianne Hough and Tony Dovoloni. Tony was throwing her around like a ragdoll! Teach Chuck Wicks to do that, and Chulianne would win the competition for sure! No fresh Video Blogs this week. Next week is the group number and the celebrities get to design their partners costumes. Ty wants Chelsie in denim, and Chuck said "less is more" for Julianne. Maybe Edyta will wear all of Julianne's excess fabric, because Lawrence said that since his mama will be watching, he'd like to see Edyta a bit more covered since she is usally "allergic to clothing."News From Around The Country
Tim McGraw has signed on for another movie role, this time opposite Sandra Bullock in the flick The Blind Side, based on the Michael Lewis novel of the same name. Oher’s real life success will be highlighted next month when he is expected to be a first round pick for the NFL Draft. Shooting begins next month in Atlanta. No word on a release date.
Toby Keith will be heading out on his seventh USO Tour soon. This trip is 17 shows in 11 days. Toby’s expected to play for troops on more than 11 small, remote forward operating bases around the Persian Gulf. And finally, look for Steve Wariner to throw a new job-title acronym at you – C.G.P. – certified guitar player. Yee-Haw! The Ballroom's Gone Country!
Ty & Chelsie did a countrified jive and Chulianne were in matching lace. It was all so adorable, but it’s sad to say that Ty may be losing some steam. Last week’s Paso should have been a perfectly suited dance for Ty Murray, yet he was constructively criticized for being too stiff. T

Pre-Release Hype Has Made The Climb
Hannah Montana, The Movie, opens nationwide today. It’s an extension of the TV show, but because this super-sized episode was largely filmed on location in Tennessee, there is a lot more country music throughout the movie. Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus star, but look for cameos from Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Bucky Covington, and Marcel. The Flatts and Taylor pretty much play themselves as friends of "Miley" and each sing well-placed numbers. Bucky and Marcel can be seen as band members in Miley and/or Billy Ray's bands. Last night in Nashville, the red carpet premiere saw plenty of celebrity with children in tow: Sara Evans, Phil Vassar, Martina McBride, Clint Black and Big Kenny. If country music infiltrating the tween pop world isn’t enough for you, how about more country music on the Great White Way? Dolly took 9 to 5 to Broadway, next up is Pure Country. Joe Nichols will play the lead role in the Broadway version of the film. Joe is supposed to be going to New York City at the end of October, so that the show can start in early 2010. Joe said the production is an updated version of the 1992 movie. Asked how he feels about stepping into a role originated by George Strait, Joe said, "It feels pretty amazing. He's been a hero of mine since I was a little kid so to come along behind him … on Broadway and do something that people dream their whole lives of doing is pretty amazing."

Keith Urban debuted Defying Gravity at the top of the sales charts. It’s the first of his albums to best the number three opening slot that he’s so familiar with. Toby Keith has reportedly backed out of his next movie project due to a production conflict with his annual USO tour. Taylor Swift donated her prom dress to an online auction that helps girls give and receive the dress of their dreams; it earned $1200. And finally, all that dancing seems to be paying off. With more than one-half million profile views, Chuck Wicks ranks as the number two country artist on MySpace for the past two weeks, second only to Carrie Underwood.

To start, here's the big boy of country music, Toby Keith, with his wife, Tricia, holdin' tight on the back seat of his motorcycle:
Chulianne is safe, and Chuck Wicks has issued himself a new challenge for next week – aside from learning the Rumba. Chuck declared last night on Dancing With The Stars that he wants to make judge Carrie Ann Inaba scream over his sex appeal! We’ll see. The Rumba has always been the sexiest of all the dances on the show, and judge Bruno Tonioli particularly appreciates the dances that steam up the room. Most platonic dance partners get the giggles getting sexy with one another, Chulianne should have no problem. But then again, the Paso Double was perfectly suited for Ty Murray, yet he got nervous and stiff. So we’ll see what happens next week. Last night, Lil’ Kim & Derek got the encore waltz, and the show regressed back to the dance-off of the least popular dances. Lawrence & Edyta scored the same; whereas David & Kym improved their score, yet still got voted off by the new math. Due to technical difficulties with incorrect embed codes, here are the links to this week’s video blogs, courtesy of CMT:

Julianne Hough Thanks Her Fans
George Strait’s tribute is in the can. Taped while all the big names were in Vegas for the ACM’s, it will air May 27th. Friends such as such as Taylor Swift, LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw, John Rich, Jack Ingram, Dierks Bentley, Sugarland and Toby Keith paid tribute as George was named ACM Artist of the Decade. Garth Brooks made a surprise appearance to pass the torch. As appreciative as he was, George did say the event felt rather like a farewell party, “…ya know, and I’m not ready yet. Ya know, I still feel like I’m singing good and ya know, we made the last two albums down in Florida and, I don’t know, maybe it has something to do with that ocean air.”

Tuesday Music Store Dance
Several new CDs are out today that we've been speaking of lately.
Sunday night at the ACM’s, Billy Ray Cyrus pimped the album to 14.1 million viewers. Today Back to Tennessee hits the shelves. The album features 12 new tracks, including another Billy Ray / Miley duet “Butterfly Fly Away,” which will be heard in the Hannah Montana movie. Jason Aldean also drops his 3rd studio album, Wide Open, today. You Hate To Say I Told You So
Predictions came true last night when the bottom three were revealed on Dancing With The Stars. They’ve been hanging in the fray for weeks, and last night, Holly & Dmitry, Steve-O & Lacey, and Steve & Karina were made to stand under the harsh glare of the red light. What wasn’t predicted was the cancellation of the dance-off. Yay!
Instead, producers went back to the encore dance which allowed viewers the chance to re-live Gilles & Cheryl’s sizzling Argentine Tango. Hot. Hot. Hot. If we have to see something again, it’s always better to see the perfect dance over one of three that stunk. It was no surprise that Holly & Dmitry were called out first, but between the Steve’s, smell-a-vision made its consumer debut because the viewers got a big whiff of Wozniack. The geek vote couldn’t save him. Steve & Karina were sent packing because Steve-O & Lacey were narrowly saved by the MTV crowd that still loves their Jacka$$. Nine couples remain in no particular order. The top four are obvious. Chulianne and Ty & Chelsie need to step it up if they want to place any better than 5th or 6th.
Next week is another waltz or the Paso Double. If he gets it, the Paso should give Ty a chance to shine. Granted, bull riding is different than bull fighting, but what better way to let him be a tough, alpha male than with a dance where he imagines he’s in a ring with a bull? Waltzing would be cute for Chulianne, but they’ve done that. So perhaps Chuck Wicks will trade in his paper hat for the matador costume as well:News From Around The Country
The ACM’s are on Sunday night. We already know two winners, which is great news for Brad Paisley, except for the fact that he is cheated out of more TV time. Brad has been consistently winning the video of the year categories at a lot the country awards in recent years, but they never televise his category. They just give him the award – in advance no less! “Waitin' On A Woman” (with Andy Griffith) is the Video Of The Year, and the Brad Paisley-Keith Urban duet “Start A Band” wins Vocal Event Of The Year. The flashy performances are set for Sunday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and while they're at it, maybe they might give out a few awards during the course of the award show.
Tonight on TV – April Fools! Jessica Simpson and LeAnn Rimes will appear on the April Fools Day special I Get That A Lot. Jessica acts as a computer repair woman and LeAnn serves breakfast. The Eli Young Band makes their national television debut tomorrow night (4/2) on ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live. They'll perform “Always The Love Songs” and “When It Rains,” the longest running independent single in chart history.

Tuesday Newsday
It’s week four, and it’s obvious who is there to dance and who needs to go home. Both of country’s connections are showing improvement and solid dance skills, so neither is in immediate danger of going home. But both are going to need to step it up over the next few weeks if they want to play with the obvious front runners. Gilles and Cheryl won the first perfect score of the season; Melissa and Tony missed it by a point. These couples are likely the in the finals this year. Giving them a run for their money are Ballas Hough Band members, Mark Ballas and his partner, Shawn Johnson, along with Derek Hough and his partner, Lil Kim. Everyone else is in the middle of the pack or they have got to GO! Tonight there will a double elimination. Likely to go are Holly & Dmitry. Last week, low viewer votes put them in the dance-off, and this week the judges didn’t show them much redemption. Joining them with their final dance will likely be Steve-O & Lacey or Steve & Karina. Take your pick. The judges pan them both; they’re competing for the goofball roll, and several weeks of nonsense is historically enough for the viewers. Although, the geek vote did save Steve Wozniack last week. Could we see a complete blindside tonight, and somebody like say, David & Kym or Lawrence & Edyta be sent unsuspectingly packing? It’s getting to the point where you can see the top and everyone else just has to go. It’s just a matter of order.C
raig Morgan is hosting his Charity Ride in Dickson, TN today. On hand for the off-road riding and sold-out concert are friends Bucky Covington, Blake Shelton, Kellie Pickler, James Otto, Jason Michael Carroll, and professional motocross riders Kevin Windham, Destrey Abbott, Fred Andrews, Barry Hawk and Andrew Short. Craig’s event raises money for charities in his hometown. Fun pictures of the event should be appearing soon.Six of Toby Keith’s songs will be available in the Rock Band Music Store for download next month. You’ll be able to rock out to “Beer for My Horses,” “I Love This Bar,” “She’s a Hottie,” “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “Who’s Your Daddy?" and “How Do You Like Me Now?!” All tracks are original master recordings, and will be priced at $1.99 each or get the six-pack at $9.99. The Toby Keith Six-Pack will be released in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace on April 7th, followed by the PlayStation Store on April 9th.
What’s the latest with Taylor Swift? Taylor will be on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Thursday for an interview and an outdoor performance. She’ll attend the world premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie on Thursday in Los Angeles and will perform on the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday. And she’s making her second appearance on the cover of Seventeen magazine next month. Inside the issue Taylor puts together a wish list that includes appearing on Oprah. She would also like to win a GRAMMY, have a successful headlining tour, have a house with wooden floors, and go to a wedding.

No More Maksim Miranda
It makes one wonder how low the viewer vote has to have been to still calculate out as a loss for Denise & Maks. Conversely, how high would they have had to score to raise a weak viewer vote? Since the public vote is never revealed, it makes one wonder if the results pre-determined, likely resulting in the same outcome despite the melodramatic hype to revisit the worst two dances of the week. Viewers may never know. But with the early dismissal of Denise & Maks, so much for anymore “Maksim Miranda” moments. Next week the couples will try one of two new dances, The Argentine Tango or The Lindy Hop. Julianne Hough admits her video blog is kind of boring this week, but Chuck Wicks lets us in on next week’s new dance:

Tracy Lawrence and members of his band and crew escaped injury Sunday in a tour bus accident in North Platte, Nebraska. The bus was traveling back to Nashville after a tour stop in Nevada when the left front tire blew out on Interstate 80. Bus driver Raymond Hall lost control of the vehicle which ran on two wheels over the median and into the oncoming lane. Luckily, no traffic was approaching in the opposite direction. Raymond regained control of the bus and brought it to a complete stop. Tracy was traveling on the bus with his road manager and two band members. The vehicle sustained minor damage, so Tracy and the others joined the rest of his band on another bus that was part of the tour. Tracy said, “By divine intervention, we were at the right place at the right time for a serious incident like this to happen and have everyone walk away unscathed.” Let’s hope the band has a safe trip to El Paso on April 4th.

Chuck Astaire
Last night on Dancing With The Stars, Chulianne danced a fox trot to “All I Wanna Do.” They received rave reviews for continued improvement and were rewarded with their highest score to date: 23. Praised by the judges for dancing “with” Julianne rather than chasing her around the floor, Chuck Wicks made the nation’s potato farmers very proud. Carrie Ann Inaba, a.k.a. “The Lift Police,” didn’t even ding them for the flying swing Chuck gave Julianne Hough. Ty Murray continues to emerge from the shadows. He and his partner, Chelsie, foxtrotted around the dance floor like a father-daughter wedding dance. All the while, Ty wore his smiling “concentration face.” The judges complemented Ty for catching Chelsie when she slipped, a move that throws even seasoned dancers. So both connections to country are running in the middle of the pack. The leaders are still Gilles and Cheryl, who steamed up the ballroom with a red hot samba that had moves where no moves ever existed. Shawn and Mark were the picture of elegance as he twirled her around like a princess. "Team Shark," as noted on Shawn and Mark's T-shirts, is an early contender for the mirror ball trophy. Steve-O was still recuperating, so he and Lacey played it straight. Yet he injured himself – again – on the last slide of the dance. Likely to go home: Steve Wozniack and Karina. Despite his concerted efforts, Steve’s fighting the stigma of last week’s bottom two, and the judges dissed his dancing. Although, as goofy as his routine, and honestly, we don’t need to see a large middle-age man doing the worm – ever – his routine was not nearly as absurd as "Clorky" humping across the dance floor last season. Cloris and Corky were a pair that will never be rivaled.News From Around The Country

Far From Half Off On The TV Recaps
On TV last night, Chulianne is safe. Chuck and Julianne were saved within the first four couples called. Ty Murray’s dancing career is lasting much longer than 8 seconds. He and Chelsie are safe. Steve-O is well enough to dance again, so there was no withdraw forfeit. The first Dancing With The Stars elimination came down to Belinda and Jonathan or Steve and Karina. In a new twist this year, rather than watching an encore of the best dance at the beginning of the results show, viewers are subject to an encore of essentially the worst two dances in what they are calling a dance-off. With viewer votes already determined, the only thing that can change the trailing couple’s fate is an improved dance. Yet in the case of last night, the new scores from the judges tied, which threw the fate right back to the viewer’s vote. So sitting through two of the lesser polished dances again seemed like an unnecessary step in the elimination process. But it filled the hour until the obligatory final-minutes dismissal of Belinda and Jonathan. What’s Julianne Hough got to say in her blog this week?
Not to be outdone, Chuck Wicks also takes you on a tour of the set and shows off some surprising places. Who knew two of America’s biggest shows on competing networks were right across the hall from each other?
The “Celebrity” video comes to life tonight as Brad Paisley takes the American Idol stage for real. Although he will be the guest entertainment, not subject to judging. If he had his way about it, however, he’d love to be judged.
Brad jokes, “I’m going to compete. I’m going for it. I’ve got to see if I have what it takes. You know, I’ve always wondered.” Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis will also appear to duet “I Told You So.” Last night, Randy Travis mentored the Top 11 contestants during “Grand Ole Opry” week. Most did about as well as could be expected since they are singers of different genres who just have to play along during the yearly country music week. The most unusual performance had to have been Adam Lambert’s Egyptian-folk arrangement of “Ring of Fire.” If you didn't know he was singing the lyrics to a classic tune, it was oddly good for an interpretive piece.
American Idol fans will want to be on the lookout for the new series of 138 Upper Deck trading cards that are going to be released on April 21st. Each pack will contain five cards depicting judges, current, and former contestants. In addition, six autographed cards will be shuffled into randomly-selected packs. Country artists who got their start on American Idol, such as Carrie Underwood, Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler, and Josh Gracin should show up somewhere in the set, so keep looking!News From Around The Country
John Rich is going to be making the TV rounds next week. Catch him on Good Morning America and Hannity’s America on Tuesday (3/24). Wednesday is the Glenn Beck show. Trace Adkins will be the grand marshal and honorary starter for the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia, on March 29. Taylor Swift documented her entire trip to Australia on video and has posted a video blog to her website. If you want Taylor’s song “Crazier,” from the Hannah Montana Movie soundtrack, you can pre-order the deluxe version and you’ll get Miley’s “The Climb” as a digital download. And finally, Mac McAnally has signed a record deal with Toby Keith’s Show Dog Records.

Injuries With The Stars
When Ty Murray signed on to do Dancing With The Stars, it’s doubtful that he thought to bring his Kevlar vest. Yet with the injured list lengthening, ballroom dancing is turning out to be more dangerous than facing a 2000 pound bull. During yesterday’s rehearsals, celebrity dancer Steve-O was added to the injured list after he performed a front-flip at the end of the routine, landed on the dance floor flat on his back, and crushed his mic pack. His partner Lacey Schwimmer explained that his back was iced at that point, but during a later rehearsal his back struck her hip bone and the immediate swelling sent him to the emergency room. Missing the live show, Steve-O and Lacey were judged via previously recorded rehearsal footage. We’ll find out tonight if Steve-O will dance again or if he will be forced to withdraw. If he does withdraw, that will be the first out, and the remaining twelve couples will dance again. So it’s only the second episode and already this season there’s been a knee injury, broken tibia's, back injury, and potential problems from Steve Wozniak’s crushed foot and Gilles separated shoulder. At this rate, the mirror ball trophy may end up being given to the couple that can survive the longest!
So far, there have been no injuries for Chulianne. What there has been is the lubrication of an ol’ country boys hips! Julianne Hough taught sexy, and Chuck Wicks brought sexy. If voting for Country Weekly’s Hottest Bachelor wasn’t already over, Chuck would have won the vote hands down after last night’s steamy romp across the floor with Julianne. The judges weren’t impressed though, accusing Chuck of not dancing enough and leaving Julianne to do all the work. True enough, it was more of a mixture of Latin dances than a true Salsa, but Chuck did his share of gyrating. It should be plenty to keep Chulianne in the game for awhile. Also last night, Ty Murray finally relaxed and danced. He missed a few steps, but the judges complemented his frame and rewarded an improved performance with improved scores. There were other performances which were more worthy of a chop with the first ax. If it’s not Steve-O, it’s still likely Holly and Dmitry. On the plus side, it’s obvious who the judges have already pegged as leaders. Melissa and Tony earned the first two nines of the night; it was only head judge Len Goodman who bestowed a measly eight, despite admitting to gyrating in his chair. What would it take to get a nine out of Len? A fairly clean Quickstep from early favorites Gilles and Cheryl. Results are tonight.Who’s the next reality TV star? Likely James Otto, if he can sell his show. James has created his own show inspired by his cross-country travels, Desperotto. James says that he got the idea when he realized he was seeing more of the inside of his tour bus than of the great sites across the country. So now at each tour stop, he hops on his motorcycle with his video camera and heads out to shoot footage and learn about the places he plays.

He Didn't Steal Cinderella
Biggest surprise of the night: Melissa & Tony. Melissa Rycroft was the 11th hour replacement for injured Nancy O’Dell. After two hours of hearing about how little they practiced, Melissa & Tony were no where near the stink league. They learned THAT in two days? Oh, but viewers learned in post-dance interview that Melissa has had ballet experience and she’s a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. No wonder she can dance and learn routines quickly. In a field of amateurs that saw an NFL player clunking around the dance floor, it will be interesting to see where the voting public throws support. And if they would just let Ty Murray dance in his cowboy boots, he may get comfortable enough to move his feet! Next show: Next Monday. Photo: last season’s champion Derek Hough and his new partner Lil’ Kim.
Carrie Underwood will be heard back on American Idol this season. She has recorded a version of Mötley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home” which will be played when contestants are voted off the show. It will be available as a digital single on iTunes on March 16th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of the United States. Carrie said, “I’ve always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes.” PS: Today is Carrie’s 26th birthday!Rascal Flatts is now in the game to release songs on iTunes before the new album is released. Unstoppable is coming out on April 7th; the first single “Here Comes Goodbye” is available to download today. Next, look for “Forever” on March 17th, “Love Who You Love” on March 24th and “Things That Matter” on March 31st.
