Lookin' Back on '09 Part III

Zac Brown Band made a name for themselves in 2009. Winning two major awards - ACM Top New Vocal Duo or Group and the CMT Award for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year, and being nominated for many others - including the three Grammys the group is up for next year - they are very thankful for what they've been able to achieve. Zac Brown Band also recently filmed a CMT Crossroads special with Jimmy Buffett to air next spring on CMT. On a personal note for the year, Zac Brown and his wife also welcomed their third child into the world this fall.

Kenny Chesney played his Sun City Carnival tour to thousands of fans and was ranked on several lists as the highest grossing tour of the year, if not in the top five at least. Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum spent their summer opening for Kenny. He released his Greatest Hits Volume 2 in May and spent several weeks at the top of the Billboard Albums chart. The big change for Kenny this year was the surprise announcement that he would take 2010 off from a major tour and only play a dozen shows. He says he needs some time to recharge and focus on his personal life. But Kenny won’t be sitting on the beach being lazy this next year. He’ll release a 3D film in 2010 and can’t wait for country music fans to experience his show in a theatre.

Jason Aldean celebrated his third number one hit this year with "Big Green Tractor." It spent four weeks at number one; therefore, big green tractors lined Music Row in Nashville to congratulate Jason on his achievement. Jason and Bryan Adams appeared on a CMT Crossroads in June. In August, Jason released a live DVD called Wide Open Live & More which has already been certified Gold.

News From Around The Country
What never really was, now will never be. It’s being reported that Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner have broken up after (maybe) dating for three months. "It wasn't really developing into anything, and wasn't going to, so they decided they were better as friends," a source close to the couple told US magazine. Apparently, there was no chemistry between the two. Meanwhile, readers of USA Today have chosen Taylor’s song, “You Belong With Me” as their favorite track of 2009. The song won with 21 percent of the 3,624 votes that were cast online….. The People’s Choice Awards are coming up on January 6th, broadcast from LA on CBS. Watch for the future Mrs. Mike Fisher, Carrie Underwood. She is nominated for favorite female artist and favorite country artist.
