The Countdown Starts TONIGHT

December 31st. The end of the year. The end of the decade. Insert your own cliche here as to how quickly time flies! But as we end another year, and thus another decade, it is time to look back at where country music has been over the last ten years. So tune in this evening, because starting at 5pm, you'll hear the countdown of The 104 Greatest Country Songs of the Decade! And don't worry if you miss one or two, the countdown will continue through New Year's weekend, brought to you by Redi-Tax. Be sure to check back here on Sunday, the complete list of all 104 songs will be posted for your nostalgic pleasure!

And now, A Look Back at '09 Part IV.
Brad Paisley hosted the CMA Awards for a second year in a row, rolled out another successful tour, released an album and became a father this year for the second time to a son, Jasper. Brad and Carrie Underwood were asked to return as hosts for the CMA Awards and once again had everyone laughing with their opening number marked by parody songs. Brad released his seventh album, American Saturday Night which included number one hits “Then,” and “Welcome To The Future,” a song inspired by and eventually performed for President Obama and the First Lady. As for next year, Brad is taking his American Saturday Night tour on the road again, and he’s also working on a sitcom. Tentatively called Nashville, the show will be on the CW Network and will focus on both an aspiring young female artist destined for stardom and a male songwriter’s career whose career isn’t so certain.

2009 started out slow for Carrie Underwood as she took some time off to write and record her latest album Play On. The album was finally released on November 3rd and it spent several weeks at the top of the charts. Speaking of charts, her first single from the project, “Cowboy Casanova,” shot straight to the top of the charts and her video was a big hit on CMT’s Top Twenty Countdown. For the second year in a row, Carrie and Brad Paisley hosted the CMA Awards. Although Carrie didn’t take home any trophies, she proved her comedic skills which were later used during her Carrie Underwood: All Star Holiday Special. And speaking of specials, Carrie taped her first CMT Invitation Only where she debuted her new album to an intimate audience. The Sunday before Christmas, Carrie became engaged to NHL player Mike Fisher. Look forward to 2010 being a big year for Carrie. She’s hitting the road again and has announced her tour dates on CMT.com.
