French Country Music

The French love their country music. Brad Paisley won Entertainer of The Year, Best Album Of The Year, and Best Musician at 7th Annual French Country Music Awards sponsored by the French Association of Country Music. Alan Jackson took home Best Male Vocalist and Sara Evans won Best Female Vocalist. Kenny Chesney’s “Down The Road” featuring Mac McAnally won Best Duo and “Out Last Night” won the award for Best Song.

Taylor Swift has added another item to the history books by claiming the Billboard record for the longest charting album of this century. Taylor’s self-titled debut album was released in October of 2006 and is spending its 157th week on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. Taylor is also the Billboard record holder for most top 10 debuts in a year, and she is the only solo female act in the history of the Billboard Country Chart to gain five Top 10 singles from a debut album. She also holds the record for being Billboard’s longest-charting female Country star in the Nielsen SoundScan era, and is also the only Country artist in history to have a number one single on Billboard’s Nielsen BDS Hot 100 Airplay chart. Aside from the statistical achievements, Taylor will be hosting and performing for Saturday Night Live November 7th on ABC. She is the first female country artist to perform on and host the show since Dolly Parton twenty years ago.
