Wednesday News and Updates

Kenny Chesney will be playing the inaugural Show of Peace on April 17th in Beijing. The Show of Peace commemorates the 30th anniversary of a cultural exchange agreement between the United States and China. More artists are expected to be announced. So far the list includes Prince, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Rob Thomas, Beyoncé, Coldplay, The Black Eyed Peas, Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake.

Reba McEntire will make a cameo appearance during the season premiere of The Singing Bee on CMT on January 15th. The series is hosted by Melissa Peterman, who co-starred in Reba’s sitcom, Reba. New one-hour episodes will debut weekly. The Singing Bee tests contestants’ knowledge of lyrics to well-known country and pop songs, and those who fail to accurately sing the correct lyrics are eliminated from the competition.

Jimmy Wayne is currently walking his way towards Phoenix to raise awareness about homeless kids and teens who are “aging out of the system.” As he crosses the country, fans are more than welcome to join him on his journey. Jimmy offers this tip on how to keep your toes toasty while walking in frigid weather, “Well I have a liner and a pair of wool socks. You can’t wear cotton socks. If anyone is thinking about coming out and walking, do not wear cotton socks. Wear wool. Wool socks. Your feet will freeze off if you wear cotton.” Monday night Jimmy stayed in a hotel to recharge his phone and stay out of the near zero temperatures. He woke up the next morning regretting his decision but said on his Twitter he’ll have many other nights to sleep in the cold during the next months.
