It's Starting To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

Did you catch Tim McGraw on the The Jay Leno Show? (He was part of the "10 at Ten” segment, which was actually “9 at Nine” because of the time zone.) Leno had a list of nine questions and through Tim’s responses we learned that he likes watching figure skating during the winter Olympics because that’s his girls’ favorite. He admits it gets a little scary seeing the men in tights though. And as for his cologne, Tim revealed that the perfume company first wanted to describe the scent in their ad campaign as Aromatic Woody. Tim had no idea what that meant and put a big veto on the idea.

Toby Keith and his independent record label are playing with the big dogs. Show Dog Records has merged with Universal South Records for a new partnership, Show Dog-Universal Music. Toby will serve as principle of the new label and producer Mark Wright as president. No roster for the combined label was available at press time. However, Universal South’s roster has recently included Joe Nichols, Phil Vassar, Randy Houser and Eli Young Band, while Show Dog Records offered Toby, Trailer Choir, Carter’s Chord and Mica Roberts. Toby founded Show Dog Records in 2005. Universal South was launched in 2002.

Dolly Parton's handwritten lyrics to "I Will Always Love You" fetched $7,150 at a charity auction in Nashville last week. In addition, Willie Nelson's handwritten lyrics to "On the Road Again" brought in $3,510. The online auction offered donated lyric sheets from dozens of notable singer-songwriters. Proceeds benefit the Americana Music Association. Other top bids include Robert Plant's "Please Read the Letter" ($2,225), Patty Griffin's "Heavenly Day" ($2,010), John Hiatt's "Have a Little Faith in Me" ($,2000), John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery" ($1,700), Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way" ($1,110) and Kix Brooks' "Red Dirt Road" ($1,060). The auction brought in about $30,000 after expenses.
