Last night, Chulianne was back for an encore of the red Samba number; Ty & Chelsie didn’t even get a week’s rest as they were back to re-do the Lindy Hop; all the defeated cast was brought back and roasted; and another Dancing With The Stars finale is in the record books with perhaps the second biggest shocker of the season. Lil Kim & Derek eliminated before Ty & Chelsie? Try season-long favorite Gilles & Cheryl in second place behind the understated Shawn & Mark! With Melissa & Tony called out in third place and judges’ scores tied between the top two, it was all up to the viewers. With less than 1% difference in the voting, Shawn Johnson upholds Olympic tradition and, along with partner Mark Ballas, won the 8th season. No one looked more shocked than Shawn & Mark themselves. By the time friend and bandmate Derek Hough ran out to throw Mark on his shoulders for the ceremonial group congratulations, it didn’t appear as though the mirror ball trophy had sunk in yet. Then out of nowhere, Chuck Wicks threw Shawn on his shoulders and it was celebratory madness from there. Gracious Gilles & Cheryl were lost in the crowd, but you can bet they were doing the math. The show averages millions of votes. How many millions are they talking about? Less than one percent of one million is less than 10,000. Five million? <50,000. Thirty million? <300,000 votes. It sounds close to call, but not even a contestant’s mama can make that many phone calls to even it out. So spoils go to the winners and the DVR goes on summer hiatus. It’s been fun!

One more fun note, Shawn Johnson may have out-danced Chuck Wicks on Dancing With the Stars, but Chuck is out-doing Shawn when it comes Twitter. Since the two began competing on the reality show, they’ve had a challenge of who could get the most followers and so far Chuck is winning. His account is chuckwicksmusic if you want to help him win.

Tonight, the other reality show that tapes across the hall, American Idol, reveals it’s winner. Adam Lambert and Kris Allen are also in a neck and neck battle. Will this, too, be another underdog upset? Keith Urban and Steve Martin perform on tonight’s finale.

Finally, don’t forget to click the banner at the top to vote for your favorite final nominees in the CMT Music Awards. It’s the only completely fan-voted award show, so if you don’t want your favorite less than one percent behind the others, keep working at those thousands of votes.
