Justin Moore and his wife, Kate, welcomed their second daughter, Kennedy Faye Moore, to the world yesterday. Kennedy was born in her father’s home state of Arkansas at 7:59AM. The seven pound, 18-and-a-half inches long beauty joins 21-month-old sister Ella Kole. Baby Kennedy will have the honor of receiving big-sister Ella’s hand-me-downs, which Justin is pretty excited about, “Now having a girl, and having another little girl, I’m like, ‘Yes! No new clothes for a while! We can make these last a while now’.” Justin just wrapped up touring with Miranda Lambert and was home for the birth. He’ll take the next few weeks off to spend time with his family. He'll tour next year with Blake Shelton. Oh, and if you're wondering about the name, Justin said, “Faye was my grandmother’s name, who passed away a couple of years ago, so we thought it would be a great way to remember her. And, we both just liked Kennedy.”
Dierks Bentley had a “surreal” moment, performing in Washington, D.C. on Monday as part of the one-hour TV special, Country Music: In Performance at the White House . Catch Dierks sing “Home” in what he calls “our nation’s ‘Home’,” when the show airs on PBS tomorrow. Dierks has also released a customizable version of the “Home” music video for fans to personalize with their own photos.

His Achey Heart Didn't Break Before 50
Billy Ray Cyrus turns 50 today with the news that he will soon be a grandfather. Billy's 22-year-old son, Trace, and his girlfriend, Brenda Song, are expecting their first child together. Brenda is an actress. You may have seen her on the Disney Channel’s Suite Life of Zack and Cody or in the moive, The Social Network. Trace is a member of the pop-rock band Metro Station.
Dierks Bentley is taking his Miles & Music charity motorcycle ride to Chicago October 9th. The ride will be followed by a concert featuring Dierks, the Eli Young Band, Jerrod Niemann and more. With these rides, Dierks has helped to raise millions of dollars for Children’s Hospitals across the country. The event is in its sixth year, but this is its first stop in the Windy City. Proceeds from the ride will be donated to Chicago’s Children’s Memorial Hospital.
At her Speak Now tour stop in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, Taylor Swift surprised fans by bringing out teen sensation Justin Bieber to sing his hit, “Baby.” Taylor tweeted after the show, “You think you’ve heard LOUD screaming in your life.. Then [Justin Bieber] comes out and does a surprise song during your show. Woah. Unreal.”
And finally, Brad Paisley has joined the Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign which sends 60-minute calling cards to U.S. troops around the world so that they can call home. When fans donate a used cell phone to the program, a calling card is distributed to a soldier in need. Collection boxes can be found at Brad’s H20 II tour stops or you can visit bradpaisley.com for information on how to mail one in.

Dierks Turns Down Trump
After winning this past season of Celebrity Apprentice, John Rich suggested that armchair apprentice Dierks Bentley would be a good candidate for the next season. But, with a new tour and kids at home, Dierks admits that he had to send his regrets to The Donald, “I did get the call, which I was totally flattered to get. It’s just for me, at this time, where I am, I’m really happy. I have the road and the show and the fans and the music and the songwriting and the making records. That stuff brings you so much joy and happiness…a family and everything that comes with that. I’m good. I don’t need anything more right now.” Dierks will head out on the Country & Cold Cans tour, beginning October 6th in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Luke Bryan’s new CD, Tailgates & Tanlines, soared to the top of the Billboard Country Albums chart this week and landed at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album sold over 145,000 copies in its first week, edging out Eric Church’s Chief to become the second highest debut for a country album this year behind Brad Paisley’s This Is Country Music.

Next February 26th would have been Johnny Cash’s 80th birthday and to mark the occasion, Legacy Recordings has been releasing a ton of material from the Man in Black. The latest set will be called Johnny Cash: Bootleg Vol. 3 – Live Around the World. It features 50 of Johnny’s live performances from 1956 to 1979 – 39 of which have never been released. Among them are concert stops at the White House, in Vietnam and elsewhere. Get them all by picking up the double-disc album when it hits shelves on October 11th. The release coincides with the October 18th publication of John Carter Cash’s book, House of Cash: The Life, Legacy and Archives of The Man in Black.

Prepping For The ACM Awards
Not that CBS executives are nervous about Blake Shelton’s mouth or anything, or they wouldn’t have asked him to co-host the ACM Awards with Reba. But in making the media rounds to promote this Sunday’s show, a network executive let Blake know that they’re not taking any chances. Blake said, “He called and I said, ‘I take this serious. It’s a big deal to me and, and I definitely wouldn’t bring Reba down with me you know, but…makin’ fun of…you know, Craig Morgan’s toupee or whatever.’ He goes, ‘Well the reason I was calling you was to tell you that they’re goin’ to implement a 5-second delay for the ACM’s.’ This is a true story!” While on the West Coast, Blake has shot the music video for his next single which he will premiere on the ACM’s. He’s also dropping by E!’s Chelsea Lately today, CBS’s The Talk on Thursday and The Early Show on Friday. The ACM Awards airs live from Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3rd. Also on the show, look for Darius Rucker and 25 participants from last year's ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp program performing a special song. The music camp is one of the ACM's charitable endeavors for young people with developmental disabilities. The campers wrote "Music From the Heart" last summer with songwriters Brett James and Chris Young. ….. Julianne Hough will introduce the segment supporting Nashville's Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and its efforts to help make positive differences in the lives of families dealing with developmental disabilities. The segment will provide phone and text numbers to make donations to the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center. Prior to the show, Miranda Lambert is giving away a free download of “Dead Flowers,” first heard on her award-winning album, Revolution. The freebie is a special live version of the song that was recorded at the historic Ryman Auditorium. ….. And if you watch the red carpet show, keep your eyes open for John Rich’s date. John says he wants to bring Celebrity Apprentice teammate Gary Busey along with him. “I did invite him,” John said. “I don’t know if he’s gonna be able to make it but I know he wants to make it. It Sure Is Monday
So Trevor Bayne became the youngest driver to ever win the Daytona 500 yesterday, and country stars entertained. Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley each performed prior to the start of the race, and Martina McBride covered the National Anthem. Brad also drove the pace car at the race, commenting on Twitter that it was the most “ridiculously exciting thing” he’s ever done. Other celebrities participating in the events of the day included movie director Michael Bay, and actors Josh Duhamel and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who gave the command to drivers to start their engines. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck were also spotted in attendance.
You may be hearing more and more about the Boot Campaign from some of your favorite country artists. Organizers have asked celebrities to be photographed in a pair of military boots as a way to show support by walking in their shoes. Joe Nichols is just one star participating, and he said that it is a very cool way to tribute the military. Joe found another way to pay tribute to the military by featuring a couple of American heroes in his video for “The Shape I’m In.”
And finally, if your anxious to get an inside peek at The Judds, the new series will premiere on April 10th on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Happy Birthday, Garth Brooks … 49 years old today! Garth kicked off the week by playing host to around 200 campers at a “Super Camp” near Dallas, where under-privileged kids were given the opportunity to learn football and cheerleading skills from the pros. Garth says encouraging those that are hurting is something he lives for. “If there’s any way through the gift that I get to do of playing music that can make that a little bit better then that makes me feel proud," Garth said. "You know, Ricky Skaggs has my two favorite sayings in life, ‘life’s too short to live like this,’ and his other saying is, ‘life’s too long to live like this’.”
Chris Young is almost at the point that he could join Randy Travis as the second artist in Billboard country chart history to release the same single twice and see it go to the top of the chart! Randy did it with his classic “On the Other Hand,” and Chris is about to see his latest hit, “Voices” repeat the feat. Randy’s song stalled on the chart after its original release in 1985, only to hit #1 the next year. Chris’s song was first released as his third single in 2008 and only reached number 37 on the chart. The historical connection to Randy Travis is pretty interesting considering that one of the first country songs Chris knew start-to-finish was Randy Travis‘ second chart-topper, ”Diggin’ Up Bones.” He would reportedly drive his parents crazy singing it in the car.
Husband-and-wife duo Thompson Square will release their debut album this week. The self-titled debut includes their hit, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not.” According to the duo’s Keifer Thompson, the album’s theme might make their new CD a perfect Valentine’s Day gift. “Honest to goodness we tried to put 12 songs on there that we just love, you know. We tried to put 12 hits on there,” Keifer said. “Yeah, I mean, there’s songs about…breakin’ up and makin’ up, and I guess the overall theme would be love you know…it’s outside the box a little bit and it was really fun to make” Keifer and his wife Shawna picked up a huge following of fans while touring with Jason Aldean.
And finally, Dierks Bentley is set to record a special version of his #1-hit, “Sideways,” for NASCAR coverage on FOX Sports in 2011. Commissioned by the racing organization, the song will be used throughout the season. Dierks will debut the song live from the Daytona 500 on February 20th.

Prepping for The Super Bowl
Tomorrow, The Country Station will be annoucing the winner of "The Big Game" prize package so you can throw the ultimate party for 20 of your friends this Sunday. Today is your last day to send entries through the main website.
If you can’t watch Super Bowl XLV on TV this Sunday, your next option is to listen to it on the radio. Our sister station, AM 570, will be airing the game; therefore, you’ll hear Lady Antebellum’s “Stars Tonight” remixed just for the pre-game radio coverage. The new version, which includes highlights from the Packers’ and Steelers’ winning seasons, will air on more than 640 stations in the Westwood One network, including KSNM.
Elsewhere in Super Bowl entertainment, the cast of Glee will perform Lady Antebellum's “Need You Now” in a new episode premiering on Fox immediately after the football game. ..... Sugarland's latest album, The Incredible Machine, has been certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of more than one-million units. It's the fourth album from Sugarland to be certified platinum or better, bringing their career album sales to 9 million. ….. Brad Paisley’s been calling on several stars of country and Hollywood for his upcoming album, This Is Country Music. It was recently revealed that Alabama was in the studio with Brad recording tracks for the new album. Now, Clint Eastwood is offering up his talents on an instrumental track titled, “Eastwood”. Referring to Clint’s whistling, Brad tweeted, “Seriously. I think he has potential, this kid. Or should I say punk.” Other stars slated to be included on the CD are Sheryl Crow, Marty Stuart, and Don Henley of the Eagles.

One Hot Grammy Party
Nashville’s hottest artists got together on Tuesday night to celebrate the country music Grammy nominations. Those spotted at the party included Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson, Kings of Leon, Paramore, Marty Stuart, The Band Perry, and Lady Antebellum, who are nominated in six categories, more than any other country artist. The 53rd Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on February 13th. ..... As an unfortunate sidenote to the party, Dierks Bentley lost his new, classic car to a fire. Dierks had only driven his ’67 Camaro three times before it burst into flames while sitting in a parking lot just outside a bar. Dierks tweeted (sic), “met my friend charles kelley at a bar. he wanted to see my new ’67 camaro. we walked back outside. it was on fire. not cool.”
In celebration of their 10th season, American Idol is launching a mobile museum tour of 16 cities across the U.S. You’ll be able to experience Idol stardom through singing and posing for photos with life-size cardboard stand-ups of host Ryan Seacrest and the new judges. Visitors will also have a chance to check out memorabilia like Carrie Underwood’s finale dress, David Cook’s guitar, and a suit worn by Ryan.

Choices will feature 13 original tracks and a couple of classic spiritual songs. Charley has sold over 70-million records throughout his career as country music’s first African-American superstar. Ice Toes
If Dierks Bentley is freezing his shorts, it must be New Year’s Day. On schedule, Dierks took his annual dip in the frigid water's of Nashville's Percy Priest lake last Saturday. It's a ritual he started several years ago and began filming two years ago. Dierks says, "When it reaches and starts crawling up your board shorts and hits the mid section, it's definitely game on. There's no backing down now. The coldest spot for me actually was my feet. I went in there barefoot, and I was in my truck with the heater on high with like the air coming out of the bottom for like ten minutes trying to get movement back in my toes." Dierks' band mates chickened out of the winter swim, but he says that they will have to make up for it this spring while they're on tour.

Here’s some good news to start the year. Just days before attending the Kennedy Center Honors early last month, Merle Haggard received the news that he’s cancer-free. “I think I'm all right now,” Merle said, “I went down and had a checkup just prior to going back for this little gig and I was clear. I didn't have anything, and that's an awful good sign." In 2008, Merle underwent surgery to have a cancerous part of his lung removed. Merle also said a once-talked-about album with Willie Nelson may now involve close friend Kris Kristofferson. “I'm sure if we're healthy and live to do it, we'll do it,” he said. “We thought about the title: The Musketeers. You know, because there's the three of us.”
And finally, Craig Morgan can now add top-rated TV host to his resume. In its first season on The Outdoor Channel, Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors has risen to become the network’s #1 rated hunting show on Saturday mornings. The show chronicles Craig’s life both on stage and out in the field as an avid outdoorsman. He also welcomes professional athletes and fellow country artists on as guests each week.

For the third year, you will have the chance to vote in two categories of the Academy of Country Music Awards. The nominees for Top New Solo Vocalist are Eric Church, Easton Corbin, and Randy Houser. In the category of Top New Vocal Duo or Group, nods were given to The Band Perry, The JaneDear Girls, and Steel Magnolia. Fan voting will be open between January 27th and February 24th. The winners in each category will go on to compete for the title of Top New Artist. The 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast on CBS, April 3rd.
Here’s some good news to start the year. Just days before attending the Kennedy Center Honors early last month, Merle Haggard received the news that he’s cancer-free. “I think I'm all right now,” Merle said, “I went down and had a checkup just prior to going back for this little gig and I was clear. I didn't have anything, and that's an awful good sign." In 2008, Merle underwent surgery to have a cancerous part of his lung removed. Merle also said a once-talked-about album with Willie Nelson may now involve close friend Kris Kristofferson. “I'm sure if we're healthy and live to do it, we'll do it,” he said. “We thought about the title: The Musketeers. You know, because there's the three of us.”
And finally, Craig Morgan can now add top-rated TV host to his resume. In its first season on The Outdoor Channel, Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors has risen to become the network’s #1 rated hunting show on Saturday mornings. The show chronicles Craig’s life both on stage and out in the field as an avid outdoorsman. He also welcomes professional athletes and fellow country artists on as guests each week.

Dierks Bentley raised over $250,000 for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital yesterday at his 5th annual Miles and Music for Kids motorcycle ride and concert in Nashville. Dierks wrapped up his afternoon with a star studded concert featuring Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Jerrod Niemann, Laura Bell Bundy, and more. Highlights included Dierks and Luke collaborating on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishin In The Dark” and Miranda, Jerrod and Dierks performing “Bad Angel” from Dierks’ latest album, Up on The Ridge. ….. Taylor was driving near her local mall one day when she spotted an 11-year-old girl wearing her Fearless tour T-shirt. She made a quick u-turn, followed her to a video-game store, and walked up and said, “Oh, hi. I wanted to meet you.” Apparently the fan didn’t know what to say for three minutes. Taylor said, “Then her mom walked over, burst into tears, and proceeded to tell me that they’d driven all the way from Austin, Texas, just to see where I was discovered.”

It's New Music Tuesday!
Tuesday’s are album release days, so before we look at the news, let’s talk about the music that makes The Country Station, well, “country.,” According to the CD/DVD Release Date Calendar on the right, several albums are coming out today. You're hearing all the associated new singles on the air. …. This week at the station, we’ve kicked off our new music feature, so you can plan on discovering the new songs at 8:04am, 1:04pm, 4:04pm, and 10:04pm. Write and let us know what you think about them. ….. And as far as live music is concerned, quite a few shows are coming to our area in the next couple of weeks: Friday night, Josh Grider will be at Hurricane Alley, and John Michael Montgomery will be at Whiskey Dicks down in El Paso. Next Wednesday night, Jason Boland and the Stragglers will be at Hurricane Alley. And then on October 2nd, it’ll be time for the big fall concert at the SNM State Fair; it’s Reckless Kelly this year.

It’s one of many awards he has received during the years including being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In other Mel news, his first comedy album, You Ain’t Gonna Believe This, hits stores today. In the 23 cut album you’ll hear three new songs and the jokes that kept his fans laughing during his 13 year run in Branson, Missouri. He’ll be on Fox & Friends tomorrow morning to promote it. ….. Dierks Bentley’s Miles & Music For Kids event was held in Seattle, Washington last Saturday. Despite the rain, it raised $50,000 for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Last year, Dierks partnered with several charities to expand the success of the event to six cities across the country in 2009 and 2010. ….. Keith Urban’s wife, Nicole Kidman, is returning to Broadway to star in Sweet Bird of Youth. The story is a “sultry tale of a gigolo and a faded movie star” and will begin production next fall. So that’s why Keith and Nicole recently purchased the penthouse with the automobile-elevator to their floor! … And finally, congratulations are in order for the youngest member of Gloriana, Cheyenne Kimball. Over the weekend, the 20-year-old and her boyfriend, singer-songwriter Casey Twist, announced their engagement.

Housewives Are Desperate for Schneider
John Schneider is going to be back on TV, and it’s not just in Dukes of Hazzard re-runs on CMT. John is going to be picking up a part on Desperate Housewives as the father of Brian Austin Green’s character, “Keith.” Nice to see that he can put the fatherly acting skills back to use since his character of Clark Kent’s father, Jonathan, was killed off Smallville several seasons ago. John says that he pulls inspiration for his more mature roles from Uncle Jesse’s character on the Dukes of Hazzard, played by the late Denver Pyle, “Loved us dearly, but was never afraid to tell us like it was. Was never afraid to say, ‘Boys, sit down!’ Here’s a couple of things, I’m going to tell you these things.’ Knowledge imparted from “Uncle Jesse” served ‘Bo’ and ‘Luke’ well.”Keith Urban is one of many famous faces taking part in a new campaign for the American Cancer Society. The organization’s campaign “More Birthdays” features different celebrities performing their own renditions of “Happy Birthday.” Artists will also create or donate artwork. Keith says, “I love the spirit of the American Cancer Society's More Birthdays campaign because it celebrates life. The marking of time, especially when spent with family and friends on that special day, helps to remind us of the little things that are most important to all of our lives.” Keith’s rendition will also be turned into advertisements for television, online outlets, and custom e-cards.
This Christmas season, Trace Adkins will serve as a celebrity narrator for Disney World’s Candlelight Processional. The Epcot theme park will be transformed into an international celebration with various festive decorations and live entertainment from different cultures. The Candlelight Processional is a special event that will be held nightly at the American Gardens Theatre using a variety of celebrity voices to tell the story of Christmas, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and choir. If you’re making travel plans, Trace’s voice will be used from December 19th to 21st.
And finally, many country musicians were honored at Tuesday night’s ASCAP Awards. Alan Jackson and Dierks Bentley were the evening’s top honorees receiving the ASCAP Founders Award and the Songwriter/Artist of the Year, respectively. Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," which was co-written by Josh Kear, was deemed Country Song of the Year. Special performances were given by the writers of the year’s top five most performed songs. Those performances included “Need You Now,” by Josh and Lady Antebellum; “Sideways,” by Dierks, “Alright,” performed by Darius Rucker and Frank Rogers, “Big Green Tractor” performed by David Lee Murphy, and “Gettin’ You Home,” by Chris Young.

The new CD from Trace Adkins, Cowboy’s Back In Town, comes out today. Trace has numerous TV appearances planned to promote his new album. He will appear on the Today show and The O'Reilly Factor on Thursday, followed by Fox & Friends on Friday. In addition, Trace is scheduled for The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on September 14th, Jimmy Kimmel Live on September 15th, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on October 5th, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on October 13th and Chelsea Lately on October 19th.
The deluxe version of Toby Keith's upcoming album, Bullets in the Gun, will include his versions of several country classics recorded during a performance at a one-thousand-seat concert venue in New York City last June. The bonus tracks are Johnny Paycheck's "11 Months and 29 Days," Waylon Jennings' "I've Been a Long Time Leaving (But I'll Be a Long Time Gone)" and Roger Miller's "Chug-a-Lug," along with Gordon Lightfoot's "Sundown." Toby wrote or co-wrote all 10 new songs for the album which is scheduled for release on October 5th.
Word is out that Carrie Underwood has made the legal name change to Carrie Fisher. Of course, Underwood will still be her stage name. Also, she and Mike Fisher are said to be building a new home in Ottawa, Canada, so Carrie can spend as much time with Mike as possible during his hockey season. According to reports, Mike is helping quite a bit with the interior design, so the house should be ready to move into by September.
And finally, Dierks Bentley tweeted a great story about his adventure to a Billy Idol show over the weekend. Unfortunately, it was sold out, so Dierks took pictures outside of the venue saying, “So this is what it’s like to be on the outside. Not cool.” He tried sweet talking his way in by asking Billy’s crew if they liked country music, but that didn’t work. As it turned out, a fan of Dierk’s got him into the show, and he tweeted a picture of the two hanging out by the stage. His final tweet said, “Success @Billyidol. Makes me appreciate all our fans go through to come to our shows. Thanks!”

Catching Up With The Country
Dierks Bentley has joined the expectant father club – again. It’s been announced that Dierks and his wife, Cassidy, are expecting their second child in December. Dierks’ first child, Evie, is almost two and seems to be the most excited for the addition. Dierks said, “She's pretty obsessed with a baby doll she carries around now ...We'll see how she does with the real thing!" Does it seem that this baby thing is a trend lately? It’s kind of reminiscent of the early to mid-90’s when the big country stars like Garth, Alan, Martina, Tim & Faith, and others were having babies every time we turned around. Most of those kids are teenagers now, and a new crop of infants is coming along to the current generation of hit makers. If Carrie comes back from her honeymoon pregnant, point proven!

Her first album, Some Hearts, which includes “Jesus Take the Wheel,” Before He Cheats,” and “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” received the certification for seven-million sales while she was away on her honeymoon. Kenny Chesney has broken a different record. His new single “Boys of Fall” has made one of the highest debuts in history, landing at number 17 on Billboard’s Country Song chart this week. The new single gives Kenny two of the four highest debut singles in the charts history. Kenny’s song “Don’t Blink” debuted at number sixteen in September of 2007. “Boys of Fall” is the highest debut of a song since Garth Brooks hit “More Than A Memory” in 2007. Kenny’s upcoming album, Hemingway’s Whiskey will be released on September 28th.
And finally, your next chance to see Tim McGraw on the big screen will be December 22nd. That’s when the new film Country Strong will be released. This is the film that Tim made with Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester, and Garrett Hedlund, starring as the husband and career manager of a country singer played by Gwyneth. You surely remember hearing about Tim starring in this movie when it had the working title Love Don’t Let Me Down.

A Mid Week Look Around The Country
Last night, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill held their Nashville Rising benefit concert to help victims of the recent flooding. Sandra Bullock was the big surprise guest of the night! Sandra introduced Faith before she sang and tried to play a few chords on a guitar before letting the professionals take over. The final amount of money raised isn’t tallied yet, but it’s expected to be around two to three million dollars. All of the money will go to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. During this wait time, Kimmel grabbed his laptop and recorded the entire show with his computer’s webcam. Dierks soon tweeted some hints about the show: “Who knew you could shoot a late night show with a mac?” Look for Dierks tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.
And finally, if you make it to Nashville before the end of the year, you can check out a photo exhibit commemorating the 25th anniversary of Farm Aid. It opens at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville on Friday and will be displayed through the end of 2010. Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young organized the first Farm Aid concert to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to help keep farm families on their land. The first show took place Sept. 22, 1985, in Champaign, Ill. The exhibit features photos of numerous country artists, including Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Kris Kristofferson, Martina McBride and Keith Urban.

Feel GOOD FRIDAY
It’s that time of year again …. Idol Gives Back! Carrie Underwood will join Alicia Keys, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox and Jeff Beck for this year’s show on Wednesday, April 21st. This special Idol episode has made history by raising over 140 million dollars for charity to date. This year’s special will help raise awareness and funs to benefit various US international charities including Children’s Health Fun, and Feeding America.
Dierks Bentley is busy with new music. He has put the finishing touches on his upcoming bluegrass album Up On The Ridge. Look for a cover of U2’s hit “Pride (In The Name Of Love)” with Del McCoury singing the chorus. …. Meanwhile, Tim McGraw is thinking about leaving Curb Records after 20 years of successful music. In a recent interview with the Vancouver Sun, Tim said, “There's just other things I would like to do, and I think the best part of my career is ahead of me." Tim’s not sure if he will sign to another label, but one thing he does know - record labels need to figure out how to adjust in the fast changing industry. “It's not gonna be the way it was before. Labels do need to figure out how they're going to operate in the future, if they're going to operate," added Tim. According to his contract, he has to deliver one more album to Curb before he can consider his options.

In a recent interview with the Vancouver Sun, Tim said, “There's just other things I would like to do, and I think the best part of my career is ahead of me." Tim’s not sure if he will sign to another label, but one thing he does know - record labels need to figure out how to adjust in the fast changing industry. “It's not gonna be the way it was before. Labels do need to figure out how they're going to operate in the future, if they're going to operate," added Tim. According to his contract, he has to deliver one more album to Curb before he can consider his options.

Life Is Good Today In Margaritaville
Based on the reception for ZBB a couple of weeks ago, TVs all over Las Cruces will be tuned in to CMT tonight. The episode of CMT Crossroads with Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett premieres tonight. It should be a great show, because as we heard that night, so much of ZBB music has a carefree feel, the complement to Jimmy Buffet’s hits should be fantastic. How did the pairing come about? Zac Brown says that he actually met Jimmy at a retreat for men in the music business, “We were sitting around a fire trading songs, with Jimmy and one other guy for a good two hours. That’s the first time we really got to meet. I told him I had some songs I wanted to play for him, and we just sat around and traded songs. That was just amazing.”

Twenty Years Ago
Can you imagine what it would be like to be a young, wannabe singer, and a major recording label wants to sign you for the next twenty years? That’s either a really confident record label or a freight train destined to crash. Luckily, it worked out for Alan Jackson. Now, the twenty yeas have passed, and the contract is up for the first Arista artist to break into Billboard’s Top 20 with “Here in the Real World.” Alan is still contemplating his future and says, "My contract is up after this, so I guess I'll be doing something for somebody, or on my own. I don't know yet, I guess it's time to start thinking about it now." Alan’s final record for Arista, Freight Train, will be released on March 30th. iTunes is offering a brand new song every week until the full album is released.

Taylor Swift has a small role in the upcoming movie Valentine’s Day, so naturally her music would be a part of the soundtrack. Taylor has two songs on the CD, “Today Was A Fairytale” and “Jump Then Fall.” Jewel and Steel Magnolia also contribute country music to the disc. And because Willie dabbles in everything, sings with everyone, and shows up everywhere, it's not surprising that you'll also find a cut from Willie Nelson, “On The Street Where You Live.” The soundtrack is out February 9th; the movie is out February 12th.

Carrie Underwood’s Invitation Only special premieres tonight on CMT. Taped in Nashville, the special consists of Carrie performing before a small studio audience, taking questions from fans and giving revealing and candid answers. … Friday night, watch for Taylor Swift on The Jay Leno Show. And while you’re setting the DVR, if you missed Taylor on Saturday Night Live, her episode as host and musical guest will re-air on December 26 on NBC. … After winning the American Music Award for Favorite Male Country Artist, Keith Urban went down to Australia to open the Aria Awards. These awards are the equivalent to the Grammys and AMAs. Keith sang “Kiss A Girl,” which is a huge hit down under! …And finally, add “narrator” to Dierks Bentley’s resume. Dierks is teaming up with NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne to narrate a new DVD, The Rise of Kahne. The autobiographical DVD will be out on December 12th.
