Tuesday Newsday

Any connections to country may have been eliminated long before the finals, but tonight is IT for Dancing With The Stars. Finalists get to perform one more time, the winner’s announced, and then the DVR goes on summer hiatus.

Kellie Pickler and CMT's Lance Smith will host the 2009 Music Awards Nominee Special today to reveal the four finalists in each of the CMT Music Award categories, except video of the year. Fans can then vote online at CMT.com through June 15 to determine the winners in those categories. The final nominees for video of the year will be announced at the beginning of the awards show on June 16th.

New to CMT, do you remember the game show The Singing Bee? Melissa Peterman is going to take over the hosting duties of the show when it debuts on CMT June 20th. This is the karaoke-style singing competition where contestants have to sing the correct lyrics to popular songs. Now that it will be on CMT, the show will feature 60% country music and 40% pop music.

Taylor Swift is going into space, at least in the form of a CD. On June 13th, Astronaut Timoth Kopra is taking a copy of Taylor's Fearless CD on board his Space Shuttle flight to the International Space Station. He’ll bring back a picture of the CD in space. That’s great news for Taylor, who happens to be a fan of the number 13. Taylor says that she paints a number 13 on her hand before every show because, “"I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro ... Every time I've won an award, I've been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter. Basically whenever a 13 comes up in my life, it's a good thing!"
