Country Music in the Movies and On the Green

Toby Keith was first out of the gate with Beer For My Horses. The movie failed to materialize in a theatre near us, and is slated to be on DVD November 11th. CMT will televise the movie on November 2nd. Josh Turner is going to be making his acting debut in the role of George Beverly Shea when Billy: The Early Years opens this Friday. Again, “select theatres near you” does not include Las Cruces. However, you can see Josh Wednesday morning on the CBS Early Show. Josh will perform his latest single, “Everything Is Fine” for the show while it is in Nashville to cover Tuesday night’s Presidential Debate at Belmont University. Whereas Toby and Josh fans may be disappointed, Trace Adkins fans have reason to be excited because last week, An American Carol, did actually open at a theatre near us . Don’t miss your chance to see Trace and the rest of the cast on the big screen before it, too, goes away to DVD.

Congrats to Dierks Bentley and his wife Cassidy. The baby's here. Daughter Evalyn Day Bentley, "Evie" was born late Saturday (Oct. 4) at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

The Top 100 Celebrity Golfers in music have been ranked by Golf Digest. And since country music is no stranger to the green, it’s not surprising that there would be a few country names on the list. 7 of the Top 10 are from country music, with The Gatlin Brothers leading the pack:
1. Rudy Gatlin
2. Kenny G.
3. Marty Roe
4. Vince Gill
5. Steve Azar
6. Adrian Young
7. Steve Gatlin
8. Larry Gatlin
9. Dan Tyminski

10. Griffin House

Of the slight edge by Vince Gill, Larry Gatlin says, “Let it be known abroad. I would like to play Vince for his dreams. “Love, his old friend, Larry!” See the whole list here.
And when they’re not golfing, they’re singing. Word is that a new Gatlin Brothers album is scheduled to be released in the 1st quarter of 2009!

Ever wonder what kind of luxuries are on a celebrity’s private island? From the looks of it, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and family vacation in the lap of luxurious solitude. There’s not a lot to their private island, short of white sandy beaches and trails, but they do have neighbors. Nicholas Cage and David Copperfield own neighboring islands in the mid-section of the Exumas in the Bahamas.
