Catching Up With Taylor

Taylor Swift has just finished shooting her first advertisement for Covergirl. She will represent a new line of luxury products which will debut in January. Taylor couldn’t be more thrilled about her new role saying, “I am so excited to become the next Covergirl. I have admired many of the Covergirls since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves. It’s like a dream come true.”

As part of Taylor Swift’s recent mention in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people, Stevie Nicks was asked for her take on Taylor after their Grammy Award performance. She said, "When I first got the call from Taylor Swift about performing with her at this year's Grammy Awards, I really didn't want to do it. She's 20 years old, 5 ft. 11 in. and slender; I'm 40 years older and, to be frank, neither of the other two things!" Stevie goes on to compare Taylor to Neil Diamond and Elton John for her songwriting abilities. Then she says of their Grammy performance, "I still walk around singing her song 'Today Was a Fairytale.' All of us girls want that boy to pick us up and think that we look beautiful even though we're in jeans and clogs. We want it at 14, and we want it at 60.” Continuing her praise, Stevie said, “Taylor is writing for the universal woman and for the man who wants to know her. The female rock-'n'-roll-country-pop songwriter is back, and her name is Taylor Swift. And it's women like her who are going to save the music business."

And from the lighter side, can you believe someone would steal a high school art project? It happened recently. A high school art project that won Best of Show by depicting Taylor Swift was stolen from a mall exhibit. According to reports, Justin Burns of Saginaw, Michigan spent over 30 hours on the drawing using colored pencils. His art teacher, Tamara Klida, doesn’t believe the heist was random considering the Taylor piece was the only thing stolen out of hundreds of projects. A no-questions-asked $50 reward was offered by the teacher and the mall to get the artwork back. It’s stories like these that make you wonder if Taylor will spontaneously show up and hug this guy, too.
