Tuesday Newsday

It’s September 1st, let the Christmas Season begin. The announcement of the first new Christmas CD of the year came today with Sugarland release their Christmas project Gold & Green on October 6th. Look for the seasonal standards mixed with five original tracks written by Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush.

On CD racks today, Chris Young joins the Sophomore Class of Country Music. Chris’s second CD, The Man I Want To Be, contains the hit song “Gettin’ You Home.” To celebrate the album release, a big party was recently thrown for Chris. He almost didn’t make it. Due to mechanical problems, he missed his connecting flight to Nashville from Colorado. So his label had to charter a private plane to get him home for the party.

Today in Taylor World. Taylor Swift has received her very own star on a Walk of Fame. It’s in Uncasville, Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun casino’s Walk of Fame. She was given the honor this past weekend because she sold out the casino in a record 2 minutes. She had only played there twice before: as an opener for George Strait in 2007 and Rascal Flatts in 2008.

Trace Adkins has joined the cast of the independent feature film Lifted, the story of “Henry Matthews,” an exceptionally talented young singer, whose happy family life is disrupted when his Marine father is re-deployed to Afghanistan. Henry, despite many obstacles, is inspired to compete in a teen singing competition. Trace plays country superstar, “Jimmy Knox,” the guest judge at the American Idol-like "Teen Starquest." The cast includes Ruben Studdard, Dash Mihok, Nicki Aycox, James Handy, and newcomer 12-year-old Uriah Shelton as “Henry Matthews.” The film will be dedicated to all the fallen heroes of Operation Freedom, and it’s supposed to be released in September 2010.
