Happy Monday. Hope everyone had a great weekend, and got plenty done in the sunshine without dehydrating too badly. Monday morning country news is kind of slow, but does bring word of a couple of concert cancellations due to medical conditions.
News From Around The Country
Merle Haggard has had to cancel the final five dates on his current tour due to head and neck pain. Merle’s camp will try to reschedule those dates when he is feeling better. Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland is back on vocal rest and was forced to cancel another opening appearance with Kenny Chesney. Lady Antebellum filled the slot. And here’s a cute story from Jimmy Wayne. During a show last week at the Grand Ole Opry, Jimmy told the audience that they could meet him at a nearby restaurant after the show. About a dozen fans took him up on the offer, so Jimmy bought them lunch: baked sweet potatoes and sweet tea. He and his fiddle player also did a couple of impromptu songs for them. With such an odd lunch, one wonders if there is a little pre-promotion for an upcoming project going on, or is Jimmy just one cool guy?
