Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss & Union Station will participate in the White House Music Series on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. Alison and Brad will take part in an afternoon educational workshop with 120 middle and high school students from across the nation. Among them will be 40 students from the W.O. Smith/Nashville Community School of Music, an institution that provides music lessons to deserving children from low income families. Tuesday night, Alison and Brad will perform for President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, as well as White House staff and members of Congress. The series celebrates the arts and the importance of arts education. It launched last month with a focus on jazz and will continue in the fall with classical music.

Dolly Parton has released a new children’s book called I Am A Rainbow. She calls the book a “self-help guide” for children when it comes to controlling feelings and behavior by teaching that each color of the rainbow is a different emotion. Rascal Flatts “Summer Nights” will soon be used during ESPN’s Major League Baseball coverage. Plus, a new video for the song will start airing later this month. For the first time, the guys aren’t seen throughout the whole video. They are only in the intro and at the end. Miley Cyrus is currently in Georgia filming her next movie, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ The Last Song. After that, she will play the role of a teenage fairy in a new fantasy film, Wings, based on a novel of the same name by Aprilynne Pike. Disney acquired the film rights shortly after the book was published in May. Miley’s mother, Tish Cyrus, will serve as executive producer. And finally, if you grab the new Daughtry album, Leave This Town, listen for guest vocalist Vince Gill. He sings harmony on a track titled “Tennessee Line.”
