Black Won't Be Back

Last night on Celebrity Apprentice, it was the end of the road for Clint Black. Ironic that it was his songwriting that turned out to be his downfall. The task was to create a jingle for a brand of tuna, so naturally Clint stepped up to be project manager over Joan Rivers and Jesse James. This was his element. He could be in charge and do things his way. Immediately, Annie and Brande felt intimidated since they were competing against an award-winning songwriter. Yet they should have realized that what Clint does best is country music, and in this case, country isn’t what the tuna executives wanted for their broad customer base. The girls jingle won and Clint took the firing for writing the losing jingle. The final four turned out to be Annie, Brande, Jesse, and the returning Joan Rivers. The Donald brought last season’s winner, Piers Morgan, back to interview the finalists and help decide the final two. The entire season’s been pointing to a showdown between Annie and Joan, and now we’ve got one. Next week will be the three-hour finale episode.

No sun on the Sun City Carnival in Dallas. 50 minutes into the set, the show was called for weather. The wind was blowing and the rain was coming down when Kenny Chesney took the stage, as determined as the dedicated fans to have to have a good show. But once enough water had fallen to endanger the stage, Kenny was told to wrap it up. Before leaving, however, he treated the crowd to a rarely performed number from his Old Blue Chair CD, “Something Sexy About The Rain.” Regarding the soaked show, Kenny said, “And once you get out on that stage and you start playing, that energy from the fans hit you… you see all those faces having such a great time… and I won't say you don't notice the rain, but you sure don't care. The fans are there…. They're rocking… That's all that you really sense.”
