Tempers came to the boiling point last night on Celebrity Apprentice. Clint Black is inching closer to the finals, but for the first time, it was edited that he and mild-mannered Jesse James weren’t getting along. The Donald had moved Jesse back to KOTU to balance the shrinking teams. Last night’s task again focused on advertising, an area where Jesse felt he had the most expertise, yet task manager Clint still wanted to do things his own way. Joan Rivers kind of stayed out of the boys’ business. Meanwhile, Athena was clearly falling apart with the adolescent bickering. In the end, when the advertising executives decided that they liked KOTUs presentation the best and gave Clint his first win for charity, the boardroom claws came out among the girls of Athena. Both Melissa and Annie tried to send Brande to the guillotine for being the losing project manager, but The Donald had different ideas. This late in the game, it’s about money. The Donald saw that Melissa had clearly raised the least, and he felt she didn’t step up to aid enough in this task, so she was fired. That did not set will with mama Joan. She’s been threatening to leave for weeks if her daughter was fired, and she did. The editorial cliffhanger left it a mystery as to whether or not she will return. Four (or five) remain. The finals are coming soon. The Donald doesn’t always choose based on most popular celebrity, and since it has so much has to do with money, Annie seems a likely choice for the finals. Besides, she’s never really been on The Donald’s bad side. But which other celebrity? Brande hasn’t always been the most effective and could still be at risk for firing. Could history repeat itself with Clint representing country music in the finals once again? Or could it be a case of personality repeating itself in the finals by way of quietly likeable Jesse sitting next to ruthless Annie? Or Joan may reappear, end up in the finals and win it all! But really, at 75 years old, does Joan Rivers need a new job as The Celebrity Apprentice?
News From Around The Country
Randy Travis picked up his eighth career Dove Award last week in the Country Album of the Year category for his CD Around the Bend. Brad Paisley’s appearance on Jay Leno Friday night will be rescheduled. The show was cancelled because Leno is ill. At the first stop of her Fearless concert tour, Taylor Swift accepted the first of what surely will be many keys to many cities. Evansville, Indiana, declared last Wednesday as Taylor Swift Day prior to her sold-out concert. Not to spoil the tour, but Taylor has divided her set into three acts, the second act being an acoustic set. She’ll play seven instruments and do eight costume changes.
