Thank Goodness For Reality

Ever wanted to go to a country music fantasy camp? If you’ve got the money, to the tune of $8500, you can pretend that you’re a big country music star for a week. During the 5-day camp, you get to stay in a private suite in a boutique hotel, ride in limos, eat catered meals, and attend parties and access private recording studios. Some of the artists who will be “jamming with” and mentoring the campers are John Rich, Darryl Worley, Deana Carter, Phil Vassar, Lady Antebellum, Bo Bice, Ronnie Milsap, Rhett Akins, and Jessica Harp. It will all be filmed for yet another CMT reality series, so if you’ve got the money, they’ve got the time. Check it out.

CMT is also looking to cast the next season of Can You Duet. Info for singers is here.

Sunday starts the new season of Celebrity Apprentice. Clint Black is representing country music. Clint says he wants to win, but he also wants to maintain his dignity, “Not to do whatever it takes to win and to stay true to who I am and not bend and break my own principles of decency and all that and it really wasn’t that hard to do, but it was something I had to drill into my head. I am not willing to do anything to win.” Clint is playing for the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. Rett syndrome is a childhood neurodevelopmental disorder. He is competing against people like Joan Rivers, Tom Green, Khloe Kardashian, and Dennis Rodman.

And finally in reality TV, the new season of Dancing With The Stars is only a week and a few days away. Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough will be part of the countrified cast this season, and both say training is going as well as could be expected. In the midst of it all, Chuck has recorded a new song that will be added to his current CD, Starting Now. The expanded CD’s should be available sometime in March. Chuck says the song was written after the debut album was finished, and he was going to hold it for the second CD but decided to give it to fans now. Ty Murray and Jewel are also in training for the dance season, and Jewel reports that she’s already been sidelined by a knee injury. She’s been diagnosed with tendinitis and will undergo a course of treatments to bring down the swelling. She’ll be forced to miss some advance practice for the season while she heals.
