Toby Keith could be sharpening his acting chops if a rumor is true that he will be starring in a movie with Hillary Duff. Hollywood tip sheets say that a new movie, Provinces of the Night, is going into production. Little known director Shane Dax Taylor is said to be leading the film. No word on which actor is playing which role, but the plot of the film involves a character named “E.F. Bloodworth,” who returns home after thirty years to reconnect with his family. Two of his sons have moved away and the third doesn’t want anything to do with his father. “Bloodworth’s” grandson is the only one excited to see him, but his life starts to go down the wrong path when he meets a woman named “Raven Lee Halfacre.” More information should be coming soon.

Marty Stuart
was in Meridian, Mississippi this past weekend to honor the Father of Country Music, the late Jimmie Rodgers. The occasion was the placement of the first star on a Walk of Fame dedicated to artists from Mississippi. At the ceremony, Marty said, "Every note of country music that is played, sung, written, thought about throughout this universe today, yesterday and tomorrow all goes back to one man, Jimmie Rodgers, the Father of Country Music." In addition to the Walk of Fame event, Marty also lobbied in Jackson, MS, last week for legislation that would initiate an honorary Country Music Trail. The proposed Trail would erect signs to mark sites throughout the state that were important to the development of country music or related to artists who hail from the state, such as himself, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Tammy Wynette, Conway Twitty, Elvis Presley, Moe Bandy and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Just call her Dr. Dolly. In recognition of her work as a musician, entertainer and advocate for education, Dolly Parton is expected to receive an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee. In 1996, Dolly founded the Imagination Library program in her native Sevier County, TN, to provide children with a new book every month from birth to five years of age. The program is now active in 46 other states and Canada and the United Kingdom. Pending approval from the university’s board of trustees, Dolly will receive a doctorate in humane and musical letters during spring commencement on May 9th.

And finally, here are the latest numbers on Taylor Swift. 3 million. Just shy of her first headlining tour, Fearless is triple platinum.
