Jake Owen has a new friend of the four-legged variety. His name is Vern. He’s an 8-week old English Bulldog puppy. He passes gas, drools, and snores. Jake says that they will get along just fine. Jake spent a lot of time researching breeds before he settled on the Bulldog. He liked the idea that bulldogs just want to “lay around and get patted on,” and he plans to take the new dog on the road with him to keep the rest of the band company.
If you’re a big iTunes fan, you’ll be happy to know that the price of downloads will be going down. Apple closed the Macworld trade show with the announcement that three pricing tiers will be implemented: 69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29. Record companies will now choose the prices of each song rather than all songs selling for a flat 99 cents. Apple also plans to discontinue the practice of DRM (digital rights management). That’s the pesky system that limits your ability to copy songs or move the files to multiple computers. Apple said that by the end of this quarter, all 10 million songs in its library will be available without DRM.
