Merry Christmas Week! There are so few shopping days left until the holiday that The Country Station hopes you are done! It’s time to go where you need to go, do what you need to do, and enjoy the holiday!
Voting is closed for Group 1 on the year-end Listener Poll. The Top 5 results are listed under the New Poll which lists your choices in Group 2. Four of the Top 5 were pretty well established last week, although
Bucky Covington made a last minute sprint to move ahead of
Blake Shelton for 2nd place. That coveted 5th spot was nearly a tie between
George Strait and
Heidi Newfield, but George eeked out an extra vote. So Carrie, Bucky, Blake, Darius, and George are in the finals next week against the Top 5 from this week’s poll. Keep Voting!
News From Around The CountryNews is slow as the music industry closes up shop for the holidays, but it is getting around that
Trace Adkins and
Clint Eastwood have teamed up to support The Honor Flight Network. Each entertainer filmed a 60-second television spot to help raise money for the charity that arranges and finances trips for veterans to visit their war memorial in Washington, D.C. The spots will air at over 16-hundred movie theatres nationwide.
Christmas With The Stars
Craig Morgan, Keni Thomas, and
Mark Wills are spending part of the holiday season entertaining the troops during a nine-day USO tour of the Middle East. The 2008 Hope and Freedom tour will visit three nations. Keni, who was a staff sergeant in the Army, said he understands the importance of such tours. “As a veteran, I understand what it means to have someone come visit you in a combat zone,” he said. “For a moment, the soldiers are reminded that the folks back home haven’t forgotten them. For a moment, they can take a break from the seriousness of what we are asking them to do on our behalf.” Just prior to leaving for his fourth USO tour, Keni was in the studio working on a new Christmas song. Literally, he finished the song, uploaded it to his website, and boarded the place bound for the Middle East.
