News from Around The Country:
Last Thursday night, Opry Member John Conlee issued an invitation to Craig Morgan to become the next member of the Grand Ole Opry. It happened at a Marine base in Fayetteville, North Carolina, while Craig was performing a cover of “Rose Colored Glasses,” Conlee himself interrupted Craig's version of the 30-year old hit to issue the invitation. Craig broke into tears and accepted immediately. The induction will be October 25th. Last Tuesday at three in the morning, Carolyn Dawn Johnson welcomed her new baby girl to the world. Abigail Grace is the first child for CDJ and her husband, Matt Fisher. "We are in love!" the happy Mom said about the new arrival. Reba McEntire will soon be urging you to buy new shoes. This isn’t a career change. Reba is the spokeswoman for the New York Fashion Footwear Association’s annual sale to raise money for breast cancer research. Reba will appear in television and print ads for the massive fundraising sale that will include 100-thousand pairs of shoes for sale on QVC October 15th. Styles from Reba’s own line of shoes will be available in the sale. Alison Krauss and Robert Plant won two big categories at the annual Americana Awards in Nashville last week. Their album, Raising Sand, was picked as Album of the Year and they were named Top Duo or Group. Raising Sand is also an Album of the Year Nominee at the CMA Awards in November. And finally, if you’re in the mood for a fall getaway, but stapled pages are the closest you’ll ever get to white sand, check out Kenny Chesney on the cover of November’s Caribbean Travel and Leisure Magazine.
