Friday Is George/Reba Day in NM

This just in ....

Governor Susana Martinez has declared Friday, March 25, 2011, "George Strait and Reba McEntire Day" in New Mexico. The Governor signed a proclamation to make the formal acknowledgement.

Among the career achievements, citations on the proclamation include:

- George Strait has the most number one singles of any artist in history with his first performance at New Mexico State University’s Pan American Center in 1985.

- George has performed over 20 times in the State Of New Mexico, 13 times at New Mexico State University’s Pan American Center alone.

- Reba has performed since 1983 multiple times in the State of New Mexico, 6 times at New Mexico State University’s Pan American Center alone.

- George Strait and Reba McEntire have supported with their appearances the American Collegiate Talent Showcase (ACTS) scholarship program thereby enabling college students within the State of New Mexico the opportunity to pursue degrees in higher education.

Now, therefore I, Susana Martinez, Governor of The State of New Mexico, recognize George Strait and Reba McEntire for their incredible success and support of the music industry and their history of performing for thousands of New Mexicans throughout the years, and do hereby proclaim the 25th day of March, 2011 as “George Strait and Reba McEntire Day” throughout the State of New Mexico!
