Thursday Briefing

Lady Antebellum has spent most of their summer on the road with Tim McGraw on his Southern Voice Tour. Charles Kelley, of Lady A, says that the group was recently initiated to the tour by one of Tim's special customs, “He has the tradition of giving [one of his own] shirts to his opening act. “I thought he was just kidding at first. Then one day he brought out a shirt to Dave and me and that was really cool.” No word on what Hillary received.

Country legend Jimmy Dean, who died Sunday at age 81, will be laid to rest in a 350-thousand dollar piano-shaped granite mausoleum that he purchased several years ago. The 9½-foot long tomb is located near the banks of the James River on his property in Varina, Virginia. In a reference to the lyrics of his 1961 hit, "Big Bad John," the mausoleum will be inscribed with the epitaph, "Here lies one hell of a man."

And finally, if you’re a fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd, you’ll love the new compilation album that’s coming out. Sweet Home Alabama – The Country Music Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd will be coming out on July 20th with the following tracks:
