The Calm Before The Storm

The start of CMA Music Fest week is always slow in the world of country music news, as many artists are busy preparing for a busy week which will undoubtedly unveil new revelations. For now, we can review that TV still sells records. Following their recent ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo special on CBS, the award winning duo saw their current album, 2009’s #1s … And Then Some climb to number 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. With 19,000 sold, the two-disc set’s sales rose 211%, according to Nielson Soundscan. Also seeing a 174% sales increase was the duo’s quadruple-platinum Greatest Hits Collection, which ultimately snagged the top spot on Billboard’s Top Catalog Country Albums chart.

Blake Shelton will host the National Rifle Association’s first annual charity sporting event on June 10th in Nashville. Proceeds from the sporting clay shoot will benefit the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s flood relief efforts. Celebrity captains will lead teams of four shooting participants including Trace Adkins, Rodney Atkins, John Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Justin Moore and Josh Thompson, as well as a few surprise guests.

The man that has, quite possibly, the longest running charted single in recent history is finally releasing the album to go with it. Lee Brice will release the Love Like Crazy CD tomorrow. Lee says of the elongated process, “I’ve been working on this project for two years and I’m really proud of it. We’ve been playing these songs on the road and I’m excited that we can finally deliver the final product to our fans. I grew up in a small town in South Carolina, when hanging out at the Dairy Queen on a Friday night was the big deal. That’s the type of stuff that influences me as a songwriter, and I think spending so much time writing these past several years has paid off.”
