It’s less than a week until Clay Walker performs live in Las Cruces for the 4th of July. He’ll be coming our way after a stop in Tucson, but before he hits the southwest, Clay is running his annual golf tournament for MS in and around Pebble Beach this week. While we wait for his arrival, here’s a cute story about life at home in the Walker house. Clay has a 22-month old son, William Clayton, and he is definitely a daddy’s boy. William even said so himself! Clay says, “My wife, she was putting him down or something—and she goes ‘That’s mama’s boy,’ and he looked at her and goes ‘I daddy’s boy.’ That’s pretty good but that he’s got my back even when I’m gone!” Clay’s latest single, “She Won’t Be Lonely Long,’ is the title track to his ninth studio album released earlier this month.
Like many of his hits, Brad Paisley used true stories from his life to craft the latest single, “Water.” And since the farm where he and his wife and family live, surprisingly, doesn’t have a swimming pool, it leaves one to wonder if Brad has practiced fatherhood’s right of passage by blowing up the inflatable pool for his young sons to splash around in? Brad answers, “Our pool is one of those plastic ones that doesn’t have to be blown up. I made sure I didn’t get the inflatable kind. Because I don’t want to have to do that. But yeah, blowing up the slippin’ slide…there’s areas of the slippin’ slide that are padded that you have to blow up. You know, you forgot how hard that is to do. So I cheated and took it down to the barn and used the air compressor.”
And finally, if you’re going to be spending any time in front of the television this weekend, you may want to catch Jewel and Ty Murray hosting “John Wayne All-American Weekend” on the American Movies Classic channel from Friday through Sunday. The couple will talk about everything from what it means to be an American to what they feel John Wayne stands for.
