Tracy Byrd kicks off his first European tour this week with four shows in three different countries. "I’ve always heard that fans over there are serious about their country music," Tracy says. "So I’m looking forward to playing my hits for them, but I also can’t wait to pull out some hard-core classics and see for myself if what I’ve heard is true." The tour starts Saturday in Minehead, Great Britain; followed by concerts March 11-12 in Zurich, Switzerland; and March 14 in Untermeitingen, Germany. Back in the U.S.,the independent movie Noble Things, featuring Tracy and Lee Ann Womack, has its Southeastern premiere at the 40th annual Nashville Film Festival April 16-23.
Luke Bryan is preparing for Spring Break with an iTunes EP and a new texting contest. Luke will be doing a couple of spring break concerts in party cities Daytona Beach and Panama City. To coincide, Luke will be releasing an exclusive downloadable acoustic version of “All My Friends Say.” The other two songs on the EP are songs that he wrote to perform in all the college towns he plays, “Sorority Girls” and “Take My Drunk A** Home.” There has been such a demand for the college-themed songs that Luke decided to offer them on the download rather than trying to put them on his sophomore CD which is due out sometime in the spring. Furthermore, Luke is offering the busiest texting college the chance at a concert. Instructions are posted on his official website as to where to send a text. The college town or sorority that sends the most texts will win 100 tickets to a Luke Bryan concert. Luke says, “This is going to be the best time I think I've ever had on spring break – and I'm not even in school anymore!”
Attention ebay shoppers. An original Johnny Cash concert performance is up for bid. This is the original 24-track analog recording from July 28, 1990 at the Paramount Theater, Asbury Park, N.J. The auction ends March 11 and has a starting price of $4,999. This collection includes three tapes on 14-inch reels; the first tape is lost, so the winner will get tapes two, three, and four which pretty much contain the balance of the show, including all of Cash's performance.
