Grammy Weekend

The Grammys are on Sunday. What will the cross-section of all-genre voters think country is this year? It’s any one's guess. The Grammys are an interesting animal to observe as its interpretation of country music is not always mainstream. For example, it’s interesting to note that after a storied career and 40 major music awards, George Strait has never won a Grammy. What? How can the King of Country not have a Grammy? We’ll be watching Sunday to see if one of his four nominations this year works out. Winners will be posted Monday. In the meantime, let’s review the country categories.

Other than The Grammys, the other thing to watch for this weekend is CMT’s exclusive world premiere of Taylor Swift’s “White Horse” video. It will be on Saturday night right after Gone Country 3. If you miss it, look for it at CMT.com. The video co-stars Stephen Colletti from TV’s Laguna Beach/One Tree Hill.

Also be on the lookout for the new People Country Special. Among all the cool content People always provides, you’ll see the first photos of Dierks Bentley’s little girl, Evie. In the article, Dierks talks about adjusting to the family life at home and on the road. The occasional People Country magazines are available on the newsstands only, after a previous issue’s proposal for subscriptions didn’t meet with enough demand.
