News From Around The Country
Trent Tomlinson has switched record labels. He’s moving from Lyric Street Records to the sister-imprint Carolwood Records. The move is an attempt to get his new music out sooner. The new single “That’s How It Still Oughta Be” should be arriving at The Country Station late December.
Patsyland anyone? Celebrating Patsy Cline Inc. is asking Winchester, Virginia officials to consider changing the city’s zoning ordinance to allow for a museum in a residential neighborhood. CPCI owns the house where Patsy Cline lived as a teenager with her family from 1948 – 1953, and they would like to open it up to the public. "It was from this house that her career blossomed with many performances as a teenager, singing in Winchester and surrounding areas," CPCI President Judy Sue Huyett-Kempf says. "From this house, fans can follow the path left by this famous icon in country music."
Christmas With The Stars
Carrie Underwood says that when she was growing up, Christmas was more about being around family than what you got from Santa. One tradition her family had for a few years was visiting a nursing home and singing Christmas carols. “We sang, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Silent Night,” just all those songs that everybody knows, and it was just a really cool thing that we did. I really wish we still did it,” Carrie continues, “it’s really easy to forget about people during that time of year, ’cause there’s so much going on. We’d go to the nursing home and bring a little Christmas cheer with us.” After winning American Idol, Carrie says gift giving has completely changed for her. Since then she’s been able to give her family members nice gifts like diamond earrings for her mother, digital cameras to her sisters, and a fishing pole her dad had been eyeballing for years.
