Award Season Continues

The Zac Brown Band is celebrating its first #1 song this week as “Chicken Fried” tops the charts. That just seems rather appropriate for Thanksgiving week.

The 2008 New Music Weekly Awards have been handed out at ceremonies in Los Angeles. New Music Weekly honors artists, radio, and industry professionals of all levels from all genres of music. The winners in the Country categories:
Single of the Year: Kenny Chesney “Don’t Blink”
Male Artist of the Year: Brad Paisley
Female Artist of the Year: Carrie Underwood
Group of the Year: Lady Antebellum
New Artist of the Year: Will Peppers
New Group of the Year: The Roadhammers
Breakout Artist of the Year: Christine Van Hoy

It’s time once again for the CMT Online Awards, celebrating those artists and videos that are most clicked-upon and streamed over the last year. The fun categories include #1 Streamed Not-To-Be-Viewed-At-Work Video, #1 Streamed Slippery When Wet Video (because it seemed like an obligation to get drenched in a video this year), and the fan-voted “What? I’ve Always Been Country” Crossover Artist Award. Click here to make your choice between Snoop Dogg, Jewel, Kid Rock, Darius Rucker, or Jessica Simpson. Voting continues through December 1st, Kellie Pickler will host the nominee show on December 19th, and then the Golden Mouse(s) will be presented to winners on December 26th.
