A couple of concerts worth mentioning are in El Paso this week. Texas-country artist
Johnny Cooper plays Take II tomorrow night. And
Aaron Watson hits Whiskey Dicks on Friday night. Stay tuned to win a pair of tickets to Johnny Cooper; Aaron Watson is so cheap you don’t need to win tickets. Friday night, all ladies age 21 and up are admitted free for Aaron Watson; guys 21 and over pay $10. Ages 18-20 may attend the show, but both genders pay $20.
Dierks Bentley just got home from Japan. Despite new-daddy duty, Dierks kept his promise to headline the 20th Annual Country Gold International Country Music Festival in Kumamoto, Japan over the weekend. Dierks said that it’s a challenge to the band to entertain a crowd that doesn’t have a common language, and that he likes to dabble in unfamiliar territory to stay fresh.
Danielle Peck and
Whiskey Falls also played at the music festival. One of the next big gigs for Dierks is the Nobel Peace Concert in December
Kenny Rogers will be doing a concert tour of Australia for the first time in ten years. He’s also in the process of recording songs for his 66th studio album. At 70 years old, retirement is not in his immediate future. Kenny says he’s worked more dates in 2008 than he has in the last three years. Kenny tells ABC News he raised his price in 2008, yet people have continued to pay it. Kenny jokes that he might just keep raising his price and retire only when people stop paying what he asks.
If you’re ready for another reality show on TV,
Jeff Probst, host of
Survivor, just may have one for you. Jeff has created and will host a reality pilot based on Tim McGraw’s song “Live like You Were Dying.” The show is supposed to take those individuals who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness on that one last, big adventure. Production for the pilot will begin in January after the 18th season of Survivor finishes.
