He Don't Like It, He Don't Love It

Tim McGraw’s Greatest Hits 3 was released last week, and in a statement released this week, Tim tells fans that he’s unhappy about its release. "I am saddened and disappointed that my label chose to put out another hits album instead of new music," said Tim. He’s been working on a new studio album for more than a year, even debuting some new songs on this summer’s Live Your Voice Tour. He was hoping to have the new music out in the fall, until the label took a different direction, thereby extending his recording contract term. Tim continues, “I've only had one studio album since my last hits package. It has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me. I had no involvement in the creation or presentation of this record. Sure, I love the songs and I don't want to take anything away from all the creative people who were a part of making those records. But the whole concept is an embarrassment to me as an artist. In the spirit of an election year, I would simply say to my fans 'I'm Tim McGraw and I don't approve their message.'" Curb Records insists that Tim was not in the dark, and the label had "numerous conversations" with the Tim’s representatives about "all aspects" of the CD.

LeAnn Rimes has landed a role in one of Lifetime’s made-for-TV movies, based on the Norah Roberts novel, Northern Lights. LeAnn will play Meg Galloway, a pilot who is plagued by family and romantic troubles. LeAnn describes the character, “She's a very complex individual … kind of a tough girl … she falls in love with a new guy in town."
The actor who will play this new guy in town hasn’t been announced yet, but LeAnn hints that there will be a love scene in the move. "I definitely will be making out with someone," she says. "I think I know who but I can't say yet."

Reba McEntire accepted her Golden Note Award at the 46th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards on Monday night and Alan Jackson won his own award again. "I'm proud to be part of such a distinguished group of people, a talented group of people," said Reba. "I'm an entertainer by trade but I love to be entertained, and I've had such a good time here tonight." This was Alan’s third ASCAP Songwriter/Artist of the Year win. 2002 and 2003 were the first two, after he came up with the idea for the category! After Alan had won ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year honor three times, he felt it would be more fair to those who are strictly songwriters if artists who write their own material had their own category.
