Tuesday Newsday

Kenny’s clocked out for the year. The annual trek of summer concerts wrapped last Saturday night in Indianapolis. The Poets and Pirates Tour spanned five months, 34 cities, and several memorable incidents. Early on in the tour, Kenny Chesney sustained a foot injury when his boot got lodged between the stage and an elevator lift. The South Carolina show and tour carried on. By midsummer, the New England stop of the tour saw 76 concert attendees arrested on various charges, including trespassing for crashing the party without tickets. The tour ended with sound problems. The first concert production in the newest stadium in Indianapolis brought the sound problems to the building management’s attention. During the opening sets, serious echo problems against the retractable roof caused many concert goers to leave early. The roof was opened for Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney’s sets. After starting early in the day with an impromptu parking lot performance and Q/A session with fans, Kenny entertained the remaining 50,000 plus audience for nearly three hours with his traditional show and an extended encore of covers. The last night of Kenny’s 7th summer playing to over one million fans ended past midnight.
